About
Little Amazon Fish & Pet has anchored a stretch of Aurora Avenue in North Seattle for decades, a husband-and-wife-run aquarium store that leans hard into the exotic and the hard-to-find. Walk in and the first thing you meet is the indoor koi pond near the front, where a dollar buys a cup of food and the resident koi crowd the surface to feed — a small ritual that draws families and regulars back again and again. Beyond it the tanks run from freshwater community fish to a saltwater section, with big predatory species, mandarin dragonettes, and an oversized remora among the kind of oddball livestock you simply won't find at a big-box pet store.
If you're hunting unusual exotic fish for sale in Seattle, WA, this is the sort of shop that rewards a slow, careful browse. Longtime fishkeepers point to a deep, ever-changing selection of fish, live plants, and crustaceans — apricot crabs, axolotls, and other curiosities turn up alongside the standards. There's a solid run of driftwood in the back for aquascapers, plus shelves of dry goods that mix new gear with older, discontinued products that are genuinely tough to source anywhere else.
Reptile and snake keepers stop in for live feeders too, from crickets to pinkies and feeder rats. " It's an older, lived-in shop rather than a polished showroom, and prices can run a little high, a tradeoff some locals happily accept to keep their dollars with an independent instead of a chain. Opinions on Little Amazon genuinely vary, so it's smart to inspect any livestock closely before you buy.
But for North Seattle aquarists searching for a fish store near me — for koi, exotics, or a rare piece of equipment — it remains a distinctive, family-run stop worth a visit.

Customer reviews
“The whole place smells like rodent urine even with the door wide open. They have aiptasia in their salt tanks. They have a remora in a very small tank for the size of the fish. You can judge this book by it's cover. 👍 I won't be coming back. Save yourself the frustration and tke the time to go to a reputable store instead.”

— Johnny Lester4.0a month ago“One of the best aquarium stores in seattle, and it’s still going strong. All of their animals are cared for and healthy, unlike many other pet/fish stores in Seattle. Amazing selection of fish, plants, and crustaceans and excellent customer service. They have a beautiful koi display in the front which you can pay $1 for a cup of food to feed them with. No clue what these 1 star reviews are talking about. Never been let down here. Highly recommended.”
— Kevin Tyler5.0a month ago“good fish and awesome koi. a solid selection of driftwood in the back and a lot of high quality products offered”
— Rachel S.5.0a month ago“Very friendly place with lots of new and used stuff for aquariums and terrariums. They have beautiful fish, and were so welcoming and helpful. It’s an older shop so maybe not pristine in there, but they are a gem in my book.”
— Corinne Heath5.04 months ago“I’ve been into aquariums for about 15 years and this shop has been around much longer than that. The owners are always super friendly and helpful. While they have a decent selection and the fish are consistently healthy, the prices do run a bit high. Still, I really want to support local businesses and avoid big-box stores, so I feel paying a bit more is justifiable. Definitely worth a visit especially if you’re in the north Seattle area.”
— Andrew Dickhoff5.0Edited 4 months ago“I feel like the owners of this shop Do not know how to care for the majority of the animals in their place. Chameleon looked like it was on its death bed.I wish I lived localy so I could do more about the situation. The place needs to be closed, and these poor animals need to be rescued ASAP”
— Kona Smith1.03 weeks ago“Please do not support this place. Terrible animal husbandry. Bearded dragons stacked on top of eachother- overstocked tanks, a terrible smell.”
— maia jewell1.0a month ago“This place was really depressing to visit. Alot of large exotic fish paired with a betta sorority for some reason. No small fish or shrimp options. The place smells. The prices for the tanks are high. But the most crazy part, there's a freaking 3 ft remora in a small tank in the back! They need to donate that to a zoo or release it back into the wild.”
