About
Tucked behind a building in Pasco, WA, Shrimpin Ain't EZ is a freshwater specialty fish store that loyal customers happily drive an hour or more to reach. Owner Thomas has built a shop that punches far above its size, and the reviews left this spring read like a fan club. Jay A.
" Shrimp are the headliner, as the name promises. Vibrant neocaridina, including the yellow shrimp customers report breeding into full colonies at home, are the obvious draw, and the coloration on everything in Thomas's tanks is consistently called exceptional. If you are hunting for healthy, well-colored shrimp for sale in Pasco, WA, this is the rare local source that actually has it on hand.
Alongside them sit some of the lushest aquatic plants in the region: tiger lotuses, exotic aquascaping species, and portions so generous reviewers joke the plants almost look fake. Beyond shrimp and plants, the tanks hold a rotating cast of freshwater fish, snails, African dwarf frogs, baby axolotls, kuhli loaches, and guppies, with plenty of oddball species that reward a slow browse. One recent customer left with a zebra-patterned snail that Thomas hunted down personally; another walked out planning more nano tanks just to keep the fish he saw.
Pond keepers get attention too, with Thomas advising on plants for ponds and axolotl setups, and the shop now offers aquarium and pond setup and maintenance for area hobbyists. What customers talk about most is Thomas himself: patient enough to explain the hobby to kids, never pushy toward a sale, and quick to source what he doesn't stock. Several describe conversations that ran well past an hour, fueled by contagious enthusiasm rather than any wait.
For anyone searching "fish store near me" in the Tri-Cities, this welcoming, expertly run shop is the answer.

“Let me start by saying I have off and on again collected fish since the age of 9. Thomas is a true enthusiast, expert at craft, and master hobbyist when it comes to Shrimp, Fish, Plants, Products and anything aquarium. Breeding, up to date fishkeeping methods, and even social media trends. Thomas has a visual of everything. Annnddd his stock of fish and items MINDBLOWING!!!! Gentlemen such as himself are what truly keep the hobby alive, growing, and thriving. Just as his stock of items he keeps. When he speaks the enthusiasm you have in tone is matched by him. He has the passion and the patience to even explain to children. He has fish that will come right up and nibble your hands. Speaking with him solidified the fact I need to pull the trigger on a couple more nano tanks while I am working in the area. Just so I can keep fish he has and may have even bred himself. I have looked and looked for another LFS like this and have not seen one for years. The experience has made my day, week, and entirety of my stay working here. Truly thankful for the time spent today. Cant wait to come back!!!! Bringing the wife. This time I will not be in a rush for time and will spend even more time admiring the collection of awesome shrimp, fish, and plants. AAAAAMMMMAAAZZZIIINNNGGGG PLACE!!!! (Last picture of small tank is my home nano)”

The prices are actually very good and after chatting with the owner its obvious that he absolutely loves what he does and cares so much for the hobby. Wish we stopped by and found out about this place sooner. However, moving forward we will definitely be going out of our way to come back and support Shrimpin aint EZ. We dont feel as welcomed when we go to other acquatic pet shops and this place was simply the best. Support these guys!”

— Bethany Sharp-Baskins5.03 months ago“Perfect place to pickup some shrimp, fish, snails, plants, AND knowledge. The owner was very helpful and friendly. We went into the shop with an idea of what we wanted but were not too sure (we honestly did bare minimum research prior to going in). The owner listened to our ideas (to add shrimp and a snail to our beta tank) and gave us his recommendations on the type of shrimp and even went out of his way to find the cutest zebra looking snail for us. We will definitely be returning and have dubbed this (in our home) our current favorite small business in tri cities. Lol”
