About
Fish Gallery Boutique on Garland Road in Dallas has gone through a significant transformation under new ownership, emerging as a bright, well-organized aquarium superstore that draws hobbyists from across the DFW metroplex. The renovated interior is sleek and modern — a far cry from the typical dimly lit fish store — and the tanks are notably clean and well-maintained. The store stocks both freshwater and saltwater fish, with reviewers spotting everything from apistos and killifish to blue-green chromis and black moors.
Live plants get particular praise, with one regular calling out the variety of aquatic plants as a standout feature. Invertebrates including mystery snails and shrimp are also part of the inventory. The aquarium display section is genuinely impressive — multiple reviewers highlight the big selection of tanks as one of the store's strongest draws, even those who find other aspects lacking.
Staff member Bow has earned a devoted following for his patience and detailed explanations, especially with newcomers to the hobby. The store manager is described as a longtime veteran of the Texas aquarium industry who genuinely enjoys sharing his expertise. These interactions elevate the shopping experience beyond a simple transaction.
Water testing is available on-site, and staff are generally willing to discuss tank setups and troubleshoot issues. That said, the store has drawn criticism worth noting. Several customers report purchasing fish that arrived with diseases like ich and velvet, and the lack of a formal livestock guarantee frustrates buyers who've lost expensive fish.
The saltwater section has been scaled back considerably since the ownership change, which disappoints reef hobbyists who relied on the old coral and marine livestock selection. Pricing runs higher than some competitors in the area. Despite these growing pains, Fish Gallery Boutique remains a worthwhile stop for Dallas aquarists.
The frozen food selection is solid, the plant inventory is strong, and the tank showroom alone is worth the visit. Just inspect your livestock carefully before heading home.

“Clean and friendly fish shop. They had the fish we were looking for.”
— Lucy McD5.02 weeks ago“I was looking for a specific fish, unfortunately they didn't have it but I left with a few fish, plants and crustations . Highly recommend, clean, quiet and helpful.”
— Kathy Sabry5.04 weeks ago“The manager is a long time veteran in the Texas aquarium industry, and is one of the most knowledgeable and educational people you could find to talk to about your aquarium. Regardless of your personal skill level, he is friendly, and truly loves to share his knowledge and love for the hobby. The store is clean, well organized, and does not have that characteristic fish store smell. My only complaint is an employee with long red curly hair and glasses gave me some trouble. He tried to NOT SELL me fish, scratched his head for about 5 minutes deciding how much he was going to charge me for the fish, and then RUINED the fish that he did sell me by destroying the decorative fish on the fish. AVOID THIS EMPLOYEE AT ALL COST!!!”
