About
Trop Aquarium has anchored the Las Vegas fishkeeping community for close to five decades, and the loyalty it earns from local hobbyists tells the story. This compact, densely stocked aquarium store packs spotless tanks into narrow aisles: freshwater community fish, oddball species you won't find at the big-box chains, vibrant saltwater livestock, and a coral selection regulars call the best reef inventory in town. One recent visitor singled out the thoughtful husbandry, noting the Hillstream loach tank was given a stronger water current to match what the fish evolved to thrive on in the wild.
On the freshwater side, you'll find guppies, bettas, and goldfish large enough for backyard ponds, alongside cherry shrimp and ghost shrimp for sale in Las Vegas, NV. Staff will happily talk you through which shrimp can safely share a tank before you buy. Live plants are a standout: reviewers say they'll turn a tank into a jungle landscape, occasionally arriving with bonus bladder and ramshorn snail hitchhikers.
Saltwater keepers come for the reef livestock and corals, all kept in clean, well-maintained systems with healthy, active fish. Staff knowledge is the recurring theme across reviews. Longtime employees, with names like Louis, Niki, and Daniel turning up again and again, take time to explain tank cycling, match compatible fish, and patiently walk newcomers through their first setup, right down to sorting male from female guppies.
Pond owners get real guidance too, from pH levels to introducing new goldfish safely. Prices earn consistent praise, and the store's anniversary sales are local legend. It gets busy, so expect to take a number during peak hours and squeeze through tight aisles, but the payoff is healthy livestock and genuine expertise under one roof.
For Las Vegas aquarists hunting freshwater fish, reef corals, live plants, and shrimp available in Las Vegas, NV, Trop Aquarium remains a trusted in-person destination worth the drive across the valley.

Customer reviews
“Honestly I'm surprised by how i was treated today. I have spent hundreds of dollars at this place over the years and today I get accused of lying about how my fish died? I didn't realize the margins were so thin they had to come at customers over less than 10 dollars. Usually I'll make the extra drive to come here and support a local business but I guess I'll just skip that from now on and give my money to pet smart.”
— Thommy H1.0Edited a week ago“I love coming to this store. They have a lot of variety of freshwater fish, and though I don't keep saltwater myself, I did see beautiful tanks of saltwater tropical fish, and all creatures there looked very healthy and the tanks well-maintained ( such as clean and built for each species' specific needs, for example, the Hillstream Loach tank had a greater outflow of water current to match what it evolved to thrive in in the wild). There was quite a few customers filing in while I was there, but it was easy to get an employee to help me. Sorry I didn't get names, but the dude with long hair and beautiful eyes helped me, as did the guy with the glasses and smooth head did, also. Daniel was the name on my receipt. Thanks, guys!”

— MarkRobert Murphy Sr4.0a week ago“If you ever have extra tropical fish and even if they are of the highest quality, don't bother trying this place. They are trying to lowball you to the point, where you are better off to dig a hole in your yard and Barry them. This is next to stealing them from you. (literally speaking). To bad, So sad.”

— Mags Pearl Vann5.03 weeks ago“I forget his name but they were very knowledgeable. I was you going to add one cherry shrimp to my one ghost shrimp but I hear they mix the ghost shrimp with some other shrimp that gets up to 2 in Long and the cherry shrimp would most likely be eaten. So I'm going to wait to see if the ghost shrimp gets any bigger and if he doesnt it I'll go back and get the one cherry shrimp too keep them company or her.”
