About
Tucked into a strip mall at 4760 W Sahara Ave, J&Y Aquarium is Las Vegas's dedicated fancy goldfish destination — and it has earned a devoted following both locally and nationwide. The shop is laser-focused: tanks line one wall showcasing ranchu, oranda, crown pearlscale, tiger yuan bao, and other prized fancy goldfish varieties, while supplies and filtration equipment fill the other side. It's a small, immaculate space that feels more like a curated gallery than a typical pet store.
Owner Jong and his staff are clearly goldfish obsessives. Visitors consistently praise the pristine water conditions, the health and beauty of the fish, and the thoughtful aquarium setups designed specifically for goldfish keeping. Multiple reviewers — hobbyists traveling from Pennsylvania, Florida, and elsewhere — have made special pilgrimages to this shop while visiting Vegas, treating it as a highlight of their trip.
One customer even flew home with six discus packed in a backpack after Jong carefully prepared them for air travel and offered follow-up support. J&Y also operates a busy online store, shipping fancy goldfish across the country. The email ordering process lets customers choose specific fish, and many report fast shipping and healthy arrivals — crown pearlscales arriving active and lively, tiger yuan bao landing in Florida in perfect condition.
The shop also stocks goldfish-specific supplies and high-quality filtration systems at prices that undercut big box retailers. It's worth noting that some online buyers have reported receiving fish with health issues or deformities, with frustrations around the return communication process. The in-store experience, however, draws overwhelmingly positive feedback for cleanliness, fish quality, and Jong's deep goldfish knowledge.
If you keep fancy goldfish — or you've been curious about ranchu, oranda, or pearlscale varieties — J&Y Aquarium is one of the few brick-and-mortar shops in the country built entirely around that passion. For Las Vegas goldfish and koi enthusiasts, it's an essential stop.

The store is immaculate, the fish are exceptionally healthy, and the prices are very reasonable. I bought 6 Discus fish and they flew home in my backpack. The gentleman helping me made sure they were well packaged for the flight, gave tips to help me get them through security safely, and told me to call if there were any issues. No issues here! I highly recommend this place and plan to order more Discus in the very near future to add to my tank.”

— N.5.04 months ago“Owner sold me a sick Red Cap Oranda that kill my whole tank. 15 fish I had for over three years. I have been a customer for over three years and purchased many fish from him. All of them died eventually. Be careful if he has a fish sole in a tank because that is what happened to me. Very disappointing to have this experience and losing over 15 fish in one week hurt me. I will not be buying any more fish from this store. I have three tanks and a pond so I do buy fish regularly. I couldn’t get a credit for the fish I just bought two weeks ago. SMH”
— Kevin Broadnax1.09 months ago“BEWARE! This place will not stand by their policies. They will send deformed, unhealthy fish and refuse to communicate about it for months. When you finally do get someone to communicate, they’ll claim it’s past the allotted time in their policy. Or they’ll say contact them via email, then tell you Facebook messenger is the proper channel. Or call them and then they tell you email is the only proper channel. Avoid this company - they are sending unhealthy fish and scamming people out of their money. There are other, better, more professional companies out there to give your money too. And - I think the fish they are selling are badly bred and they won’t admit it.”
— Kathryn Larson1.0a year ago“EDIT: DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!! FISH WAS SENT TO ME SICK AND DEFORMED. AFTER A FEW WEEKS THE FISH DEVELOPED DROPSY AND DIED. MY WATER PARAMETERS ARE PERFECT AND MY OTHER FISH (NOT FROM JY) IS FINE!!! JY AQUARIUM DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE HEALTH OF THE FISH THEY SEND OUT AND DO NOT RESPOND TO MESSAGES ONCE CONFRONTED. DO. NOT. PURCHASE!!!!!!!!!!!! ordered a fish online. the fish was kind of as described i guess but was mangled upon arrival. the fish is alive but missing a chunk of his dorsal fin and has some obvious neurological issues alongside a swim bladder disorder that is not able to be treated with medication as it is caused by a deformity. he is missing scales on one side of his body. i paid well over $100 for this fish so im disappointed to say the least. do not order from here.”

Really good pricing and fast shipping, and was quick to respond to questions. I will definitely source my future buddies from J&Y Aquarium!”
