About
Tucked into Wilbraham, MA, School of Fish is the kind of local aquarium store that regulars build a hobby around — some have leaned on the team for more than a decade, including one customer who's kept a 55-gallon tank thriving with their help for 13 years. Walk in and the first thing you notice is how clean the tanks are: the livestock looks genuinely healthy, and the bettas live in their own filtered, heated 5-gallon-plus display tanks rather than cups. The floor covers both freshwater and saltwater, so there's plenty for planted-tank keepers and reef hobbyists alike.
You'll find bettas, cichlids, ember tetras, and shrimp for sale in Wilbraham, MA — from a thriving Bloody Mary shrimp colony to the Bamboo shrimp one regular calls her favorite — alongside live plants, snails, hardscape, and well-priced coral. The dry goods run deep too: one customer noted his Fluval Flex 9 cost less here than big box stores or even Amazon, and another came home with a beautiful new UNS tank and stand during a store sale. What people rave about most is the staff.
Eric, Travis, and David get named again and again for being patient and genuinely knowledgeable. They'll test a water sample, walk you through a cyano outbreak, and troubleshoot the ups and downs of a saltwater build. They also put the fish first — staff have politely refused to sell to a 10-year-old whose tank wasn't cycled yet, instead teaching him the nitrogen cycle, and they quarantine livestock when needed rather than push a quick sale.
The store itself is neat, well-organized, and clearly labeled, with aquascaped display tanks throughout. For planted-community builders, reef keepers, or a family bringing home a first betta, School of Fish pairs healthy fish available right in Wilbraham, MA with the kind of hands-on care that keeps customers coming back for years.

“This place is fantastic. By far the cleanest tanks, healthiest fish I've seen. After a tank rebuild (freshwater, planted) I purchased plants, snails and fish from School of Fish. Eric has been a tremendous support in fish selection and helping take care of a cyano problem. Everyone is happy and healthy. Thank you School of Fish!”

— Greg5.02 months ago“I've got a very eager young family member who is invested in his tank, and the folks at School of Fish have helped him along in the most amazing ways. From answering questions to, of course, providing fish and live vegitation, the staff have been patient and very informative. I don't know much about fish, but the way the staff treat my young friend speaks volumes about their business. We'll be back,”

Still in its cycle phase but will look beautiful once cleared up. Thanks so much guys!!!”

— Edwin Vermette5.0a week ago“Can’t praise enough. Staff is amazing. We constantly pop in and consistently Work with Eric. Super patient with my 10yo son that is learning and impatient. They (not Eric but another employee) even “refused” to sell him fish because his tank wasn’t ready after testing, and instead educated him on what’s best for the fish, and how that benefits his pocket. A business that puts the welfare of their fish over making money is unheard of. Couldn’t be more impressed.”
