Boston Aquariums in Watertown, Massachusetts draws visitors with an eclectic collection of aquatic life that reviewers consistently describe as fascinating and beautiful. The store functions as both a retail destination and a display-oriented experience, with customers noting they could easily spend a full day exploring the various creatures on show. Multiple reviewers highlight the visual appeal of the fish, calling them "so pretty" and the interior "beautiful inside," suggesting the displays are thoughtfully arranged and well-maintained.
The space itself is compact — some visitors note it can feel small and warm when crowded, and there's occasionally a queue to get in, which speaks to the store's popularity in the Watertown area. Families appear to be a core part of the customer base, with several reviews mentioning group visits and children enjoying the experience. It's worth noting that admission or entry costs can add up for larger groups, so plan accordingly.
One reviewer's experience asking about resealing a 110-gallon tank suggests the store does field equipment and repair inquiries, though in that case the staff recommended purchasing a new tank rather than paying for a reseal — a point of contention for that particular customer. This interaction at least indicates that Boston Aquariums deals in tank sales and has some familiarity with equipment services, even if they don't handle every request in-house. The reviews paint a picture of a place that leans heavily into the visual and experiential side of fishkeeping.
If you're in the Watertown area and want to see a diverse array of freshwater and saltwater species up close in an intimate setting, Boston Aquariums delivers a genuinely engaging visit. Just be prepared for close quarters during peak times and arrive ready to take your time — the displays reward a slow, careful look.

A great aqua centre to visit with many fascinating creatures. Was a slight queue, but worth the wait. Could spend the full day there in my opinion.

I called and asked about getting a fish tank resealed lol they told me it was cheaper just to buy a new one it's a hundred and ten gallon tank there roughly go for about 6 to $900 new and he told me it would be cheaper to buy a new tank because resealing it would cost more than buying a new tank LOL I hope you guys like getting ripped off I would not recommend this place to anybody
