About

Uncle Bill's Pet Centers is a sprawling, one-stop pet center on the Fort Wayne, IN map, and for local fishkeepers the aquarium department is the real draw. The store runs both freshwater and saltwater sections, so a single walk-in trip can cover a filter for a new tank, a bag of tropical fish, and the live feeders that keep a reptile or predator tank fed. Regulars point to the fish area as a highlight — one recent visitor called it a "great fish area" inside a clean, well-stocked store, while another praised the "great selection of tropical fish" and staff who genuinely know aquariums.

Freshwater is where the selection runs deepest. Shoppers come in for African cichlids for sale in Fort Wayne, IN, along with bettas, community tropicals, and feeder fish — one longtime customer even tips that Thursdays are the best day to stock up on feeders. You'll also find live black worms, crickets, and the fish food, tanks, and aquarium equipment that make this a dependable resupply stop between bigger fishkeeping errands.

The saltwater section adds marine fish, giving area aquarists a selection broader than the chain pet shops nearby. Staff are the most consistent bright spot in the reviews. Visitors describe the team as friendly, patient, and willing to walk you through the floor, whether you're matching a cichlid to your tank or asking which feeders to grab.

A few shoppers note that knowledge can vary by species and that pricing skews high compared with other Fort Wayne stores, so it helps to know what you want before you buy. Even so, for an aquarium store with this much under one roof — freshwater and saltwater fish, feeders, fish food, and tank equipment all available in Fort Wayne, IN — Uncle Bill's stays a practical, browse-friendly destination for area aquarists who'd rather size up the livestock in person before bringing it home.

Customer reviews

  • “Nice selection of animals and a clean store. Prices marked on food and litter are not clearly marked (and truly deceptive/misleading). Prices (as with many pet shops) are exorbitant.”

  • “Went to look at fish supplies for my bettas. Found that they kept betta fish in deplorable conditions worse then petsmart/petco. They also sell betta related merchandise such as tanks that promote improper care. (Ex: 1 gal “tanks” labeled specifically towards bettas) The little plastic spheres they were kept in had tiny pebbles and a fake plant. The fish could hardly swim with how cramped it was. I watched a betta actively die due to how bad the conditions were, in which I had to inform an employee about the deceased fish.”

  • “I cannot recommend this store. During my visit, I observed a dog with a collar so tight that it had caused a raw, irritated wound on its neck. Regardless of the reason, an animal should not be left in that condition. Animal welfare should be a top priority, and seeing this made me question the care provided to the animals in the store. I hope corrective action is taken immediately.”

  • “Over priced when we went in. We had brought 2 rare black and white clown fish and a blue damsel we tried to trade fish with them but they said just got more fish and just did a trade and couldn’t you would think that means that they could trade but they didn’t and those fish were rare which made us mad the tank we had them in broke and wanted to make sure they wouldn’t die so brought them there.”
