About Nemo Aquarium

Nemo Aquarium in Lawrenceville, Georgia has built a decade-long reputation as one of the Atlanta metro's most respected aquarium stores, and the reviews overwhelmingly back that up. Originally run as two separate locations by a pair of brothers, the combined shop now offers what many customers describe as the biggest in-person livestock selection they've ever seen — spanning both freshwater and saltwater species under one roof. The coral selection draws particular praise from reef hobbyists across Atlanta.

Reviewers call it "amazing," noting competitive pricing on frags and colonies that undercuts both local competitors and online vendors. Long-term reefers say that most of their coral collections and marine fish came from Nemo's, a testament to the consistency of their livestock quality. On the freshwater side, the store stocks everything from orandas and flowerhorns to discus, live plants, and axolotls.

Several reviewers highlight the shop's ability to source rare and unique species on request, with surprisingly fast turnaround times. Staff members Simon and Aaron are called out by name for their depth of knowledge. Multiple reviewers describe interactions where employees actively discouraged purchases when a customer's tank wasn't ready — declining sales based on bioload concerns, water parameters, or compatibility issues rather than pushing for profit.

They'll feed fish in front of you to demonstrate health, and hold back corals showing any skeletal concerns for monitoring before releasing them for sale. That level of care has earned fierce loyalty. The store itself is notably clean — a detail that comes up again and again — with well-maintained tanks and plenty of staff on the floor to assist.

Prices are consistently praised as the best in the Atlanta area for both marine and freshwater livestock. It's worth noting that some controversy arose around axolotl sales to a reportedly unprepared buyer, sparking debate about customer screening. The store has a passionate following, and that passion cuts both ways.

But for the vast majority of the 750+ reviewers, Nemo Aquarium represents the kind of knowledgeable, fairly-priced, well-stocked local fish store that hobbyists wish existed in every city.

Let me first start off saying thank you soo much for giving me the opportunity to make my son the happiest child of the year. The axolotl is well loved and also taken care of and gets alone with every last fish you sold me. I have change the rocks into sand and also gave him a cave the temperature is 62 degrees on the tank. Yall literally have the BEST AQUARIUM STORE IN THE WHOLE UNITED STATES….

Nemo is a great place. Great quality livestock and their prices are the best. Most fish stores charge substantially more. Will be returning here to shop for the value that is there!

I have been going to Nemo’s for over a decade back when the two brothers had their own separate locations to their current combined location. Their quality, value, and knowledge of the hobby is top notch. Most reef hobbyist in Atlanta will tell you that Nemo’s can’t be beat, especially when it comes to marine life. On top of all that, Nemo’s is one of the cleanest kept stores with plenty of staff to assist. Nemo’s is really a huge asset to us long term hobbyist. Most my corals and all the fish in this current setup is from Nemo’s.

I have been going to Nemo for the past year and they have helped me grow my hobby to the next level. I always get at most attention from every single employee there. Simon and Aaron are extremely knowledgable and they are always happy to answer questions and provide recommendations. One thing that sets them apart from rest of the stores is the collection of rare and unique species they carry and the cheaper price they offer compared to any other physical store or online vendors I have been to in the past. I send them on a mission trying to get some species that are hard to find and they have always surprised me with super quick turn around time.

Here is my honest and transparent review based on my personal experience: Staff: All of the staff, from employees to ownership is very friendly and willing to help, and all seem to be very knowledgeable as well. I have never felt pressured into purchasing anything that was not right for my situation (tank health/set up, bio load, compatibility, water parameters etc.). If anything, the staff does their best to ensure that I am ready and set up for success so that any livestock purchased would also live healthy, happy and long term. I am easy to spend money, so they could easily have gotten me to spend more, however there have been times where they have “refused” to sell me (by this I mean respectfully declining/strongly advocated against the purchase) live stock that I was not ready for (whether that be excessive bio load, compatibility, or water parameters) because they do want the life stock to thrive instead of making a quick buck. I also believe the staff has always been willing to do their best to advise and educate whether that be on live stock, equipment, or anything regardless of if a purchase was made. Livestock: From what I can tell, from my personal experience, all of their live stock are well cared for and in good condition as well. If there has been even a slightest concern for any particular livestock (coral or fish) the staff is very transparent on delaying the sale of that livestock until more certain it will be good to go. An example is when picking a fish, they are willing to feed to see which seem the healthiest to pick from or if a particular coral is showing any skeletal concern it will be held to the side for monitoring. While 99% of the time everything seems well selected and healthy, to give a transparent review it’s important to also show how less than ideal live stock is addressed. This is life/biology, and nothing is perfect. Overall, this store is ran by a respectful, knowledgeable staff that truly cares about its customers and the long term success and health of its livestock. Obviously I would recommend this store to anyone else as I spend my money here and will continue to do so for all the reasons above.
