Tucked inside a charming historic house in Kennesaw, Georgia, Kol Koi Pondscapes is far more than a fish store — it's a full-service pond destination that has earned a devoted following across the greater Atlanta area. Walk in and you'll find yourself in an unexpectedly beautiful space filled with pond plants, local artist displays, pottery, birdhouses, rain chains, and a resident cat that adds to the laid-back atmosphere. But make no mistake: the core of this business is serious pond expertise.
Owner Richard and the Kol Koi team specialize in koi and pond care, from full pond builds to annual cleanings, pump and filter installation, leak troubleshooting, and even setting up 500-gallon quarantine tanks. One reviewer — a pond professional with 30 years of experience in Tampa — called for advice on a seemingly impossible problem and walked away with three solutions he hadn't considered. That kind of depth runs throughout the operation.
Staff members like Riley and Gary are repeatedly praised for their patience and passion, taking time to educate new pond owners on aerators, pumps, filtration, water flow, and proper sizing. The fish selection draws people from across the region. Reviewers describe gorgeous koi with vivid colors — a far cry from big-box pet store stock — with prices ranging from $5 to over $100.
Shubunkin goldfish get special praise too. The outdoor pond plant selection is extensive, featuring water lilies, water hyacinth, and other aquatic varieties. Several customers inherited koi ponds with their homes and credit Kol Koi with turning confusion into a manageable, rewarding hobby.
The shop also stocks the dry goods and equipment you need to maintain a healthy pond, and they've built a reputation for honest pricing. Whether you need a full pond restoration or just your first burgundy lily, Kol Koi Pondscapes is the real deal — a dedicated pond shop with hard-won knowledge and the kind of care that keeps customers coming back for years.

I bought some water plants, which are doing good except the $25 lily, it started dying the next day, I am upset paying $25 for a small lily that died. I was told I couldn’t buy any of the big ones, only the small ones. This is the size I got but two 😳 that’s what I was thinking about transporting but ppl ship them all the time. I just checked my water hycianth, 2 of the petiole’s are brown and mushy so I looked it up and it says the roots are supposed to be white but mine are brown and white but then I remembered they was like this when I got them and I didn’t know it wasn’t normal, what do I to fix this? The rhizome in the water lily looks fine (I’m assuming) but nothing is happening and it’s been 2 wks. I just have been busy. I just noticed it’s the leaf actually but does this look normal? Also thank you for responding!

This was a very unique place with all the pond plants you could want. The art, pottery, interior plants, birdhouses, bee houses, rain chains, local artist "booths", and the aesthetic of the historic house everything in was amazing. I made sure to get some business cards from the artists and will be back! I finally got a birdbath I love too!

Kol Koi has been fantastic to work with and I would definitely recommend them for anyone. We inherited a very nice koi pond when we bought our house and had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. The whole Kol Koi team, and Richard and Gary specifically, have been phenomenal to work with. They have gone above and beyond to help us keep the pond and the fish healthy and looking great. Especially when we've had any issues outside of the norm (pump problems, leaks, filters, etc.) they have spent considerable time helping to troubleshoot and work to find a solution (and teach us along the way). They truly care about their work, they're knowledgeable, and it shows!

I had a terrible experience with this company. I first reached out to them a year ago and was told to send pictures of my pond, which I did. Never heard back from them. I decided to reach out again a year later and the man I spoke to was so rude and curt. Said my pond needed a rebuild and he said that by only looking at the pictures. There is nothing visibly wrong from pictures. There are just leaks and we need a leak detection. Said he couldn’t even come out till June when I said I wanted someone to come out and diagnose in person. I asked if it could be sooner since I originally reached out a year ago with no response and he said no.
