About
Pure Reef in Alpharetta, Georgia is a saltwater-only aquarium store that has built one of the most devoted followings in the Atlanta metro. Reviewers routinely call it the best reef store in the state, and several say it blew every other shop they had tried out of the water. Family owned and operated by George and Angela, who have been in the marine hobby for more than thirty years, it is a place where deep experience shows in every tank.
The first thing regulars mention is how immaculate it is. The showroom is bright, organized, and anchored by stunning display tanks, and the livestock is kept to a standard customers describe as the cleanest around Atlanta — no ich, no overcrowding, just healthy, vibrant fish and coral. The coral selection is the headline draw, with softies, LPS, and SPS frags for sale in Alpharetta, GA, alongside marine fish, cleaner shrimp, and other invertebrates.
Staff like Matt, Rob, Lee, and Jennifer — plus a tall, bald gentleman recent visitors single out for his welcoming, deal-friendly service — will walk you through placement, lighting, flow, compatibility, and color design for your reef tank. They go the extra mile, too. One customer had the team set aside a rose bubble-tip anemone and place a clownfish of his choosing into it to host before pickup.
Others credit the crew with patiently guiding them through their very first saltwater build, while a 40-year industry veteran still rated the place a must-visit. Beyond livestock, Pure Reef stocks a comprehensive range of dry goods, equipment, rock, salt mixes, and RODI setups, with salt and RODI gear priced close to what you would pay online — and a livestock return policy customers frequently praise as the best around. If you are serious about the saltwater hobby near Atlanta, the marine fish and corals available in Alpharetta, GA make Pure Reef worth the trip north.

Customer reviews
“The best reef store ever. Ive never seen such a wide variety of fish and coral. I used to drive 30 minutes to optimum for corals and fish but this place blows them out of the water. Very friendly staff, the kind lady helped me pick out a few corals for my tank and was filled with knowledge. Very clean and welcoming atmosphere. Will absolutely be my new reefing home. Edit: came here again and would give a million stars if I could. The taller bald gentleman is my favorite hes so welcoming and friendly and gave me some amazing deals. You guys are the absolute best, my tank has never looked this beautiful.”

Insanely good selection, very friendly staff, and an overall welcoming and super clean environment. I cant remember who helped me but she was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with all my questions and concerns. Blows all the other stores ive been to out of the water and the vast selection of corals is what I was looking for. 10000/10”

— Patrick Kovach5.02 weeks ago“I walked into Pure Reef, and honestly, everyone was super friendly—really nice vibe. The tall, bald gentleman was especially great, awesome customer service. But when I started asking about deals on frags that had a bit of recession, their whole attitude did a 180. The bald guy stayed decent, but still. I was about to buy a plate coral, then right up front, on the left side, there’s a torch colony—totally neglected, necrosis, and rapid tissue loss. That was the first thing I saw up front—big letdown. Not to mention, the prices were the highest out of every store I visited. The best place I visited was Nemo’s hands-down. If you’re reading this review, I suggest going there instead”

— Jeffrey Skaggs5.02 months ago“Great service. I want a clownfish that will host in RBTA so they are putting a clown of my choosing into their RBTA basket and told me I could pick it up in a week.”
— Craig Marbach5.03 months ago“Beautiful marine fish store with reasonable prices and huge selection. Matt and his team are knowledgeable and friendly. My children and I have enjoyed getting to know everyone and have benefited greatly from their expertise and kindness. Overall this store really goes the extra mile. They truly care about their customers and the livestock.”
— Pete Maestrales5.04 months ago“This is the cleanest and nicest saltwater store around Atlanta. My only concern is that there is no quarantine for new fish, but this is where I'll buy my needs going forward.”
— Shane Reynolds5.0a month ago“Excellent place for building your tank and information.”
— Jamie McCloskey5.03 months ago“Tanks were clean and they had a great selection of fish. Not so mich on the corals when we were there. Prices were pretty high. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable”
