Tucked into a busy strip in Duluth, Georgia, Atlanta Aquarium is a family-run fish store that packs an astonishing amount of livestock and supplies into a compact space. The shop is a favorite among Gwinnett County aquarists for its deep inventory of both freshwater and saltwater fish — reviewers specifically call out orandas, flowerhorns, discus, and a broad shrimp selection alongside a substantial coral section that draws marine hobbyists from well beyond the immediate area. The store's dry goods selection rivals or exceeds anything else in the county.
Shelves are stacked with equipment, foods, and chemicals, giving fishkeepers a one-stop destination for tank builds and ongoing maintenance. Multiple customers note competitive pricing and loyalty discounts that reward repeat visits, and the live plant selection is robust enough that one reviewer regretted not buying Amazon swords here instead of a big-box retailer. The owner is a consistent bright spot in reviews.
Customers describe him as polite, sweet, and deeply knowledgeable — the kind of person who will walk you through cycling a new tank or help you pick healthy livestock with genuine care. Staff across the board earn praise for answering questions thoroughly, and newcomers to the hobby report feeling welcomed rather than overwhelmed. Fair warning: the shop is tight.
Aisles are narrow and cluttered, which can make navigation difficult — one wheelchair user noted limited accessibility off the main aisle. A few reviewers also mention inconsistent fish health, recommending quarantine as standard practice after purchase. Parking can be a challenge during busy hours.
Despite the cramped quarters, the sheer variety of species and supplies on hand keeps people driving from across metro Atlanta. If you're building a freshwater community tank, stocking a reef, or just browsing for something unusual, the density of this little Duluth shop is part of its charm — there's always something new swimming in a tank you haven't noticed before.

I visited the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta for the second time. My first visit was in 2017, during a very special trip with my son, and this time I returned with a friend. The aquarium continues to impress with its organization, cleanliness, and the quality of its exhibits. The facilities are well-maintained, the layout is clear, and the educational focus is evident throughout, making the visit enjoyable and interesting for both adults and families. One minor disappointment this time was that I wasn’t able to see the whale sharks, one of the aquarium’s most iconic species. I had been really looking forward to seeing them again, especially since it was one of the highlights of my previous visit. I understand this may depend on various factors, but it was still a personal letdown. Even so, the Georgia Aquarium remains a highly recommended attraction and an enriching experience for anyone visiting the city. Greetings from Germany.

This store has more equipment, food, and chemicals than any other in Gwinnett, but it's really crowded. My wheelchair only fit in a few places off the main aisle. The prices are fair. Most of the interesting fish were in the coral tanks. The owner is polite and helpful.

The Atlanta Aquarium (fish store) is incredible everyone there is so nice and knowledgeable about aquarium creature, fish, shrimp, snail etc. I won't get my aquarium life anywhere else even though its quite a drive for me. They also have a huge saltwater fish and coral section so if your looking for a knowledgable and friendly aquarium fish and supply store and your reading this...you just found one!

This place is okay in my experience. I’ve bought fish here that were perfectly good, and I’ve also bought fish that all died off within a week in quarantine. I wouldn’t buy anything here without quarantining them myself first. The store has a great selection of livestock and dry goods, but its practices are also pretty questionable. Tanks look maintained enough to pass for the most part, but not great by any means. The layout of everything is also very claustrophobic which may bother some though I don’t mind too much. Employees are nice, but they also don’t speak to you unless you approach them first.

Parking was a nightmare! Most of the creatures were only available for viewing in the tanks. All the shows featuring otters, penguins, sea lions, and dolphins charged extra.

I booked a sea lion tour for my daughter in 2023 based on the website requirements. When we arrived, we were told she was too young and couldn’t participate. A refund was refused, and we were given a gift card instead—even after I explained we live in Michigan and couldn’t return soon. Later, we were told the gift card had been used just five days after it was issued, without our authorization. Lost $180 due to their mistake, with no apology or accountability. Very disappointing.
