About
Champion Aquariums in Pompano Beach, Florida, has built a devoted following through one thing above all: consistent, professional saltwater and freshwater aquarium care delivered directly to customers' homes and offices. This is primarily a service company — they design, install, and maintain tanks ranging from modest home setups to 350-gallon-plus custom saltwater builds. Reviewers mention technicians by name with striking regularity: Kevin earns praise for his enthusiasm and ability to troubleshoot challenging plumbing issues, Leah for her meticulous biweekly cleanings, Caleb for his detailed water parameter monitoring, and Max for his emergency response skills (one customer called him a "fish whisperer").
The team's bench depth clearly matters — multiple techs rotate through accounts, and customers consistently describe all of them as knowledgeable and courteous. Saltwater and reef aquariums are the core business. Several customers inherited built-in saltwater tanks when purchasing homes and turned to Champion for ongoing care, some staying for six years or more.
The team handles everything from massive water changes and algae remediation to sourcing marine life for established systems. But they're not saltwater-only — Kevin has guided first-time freshwater tank owners through complete setup and education, and Max's team has even supported a young hobbyist's axolotl breeding operation, advising on husbandry for adults and babies alike. The consultation process stands out.
Caleb's initial visits involve assessing the full ecosystem — fish species, plants, water quality — before recommending a maintenance plan. Customers appreciate the detailed billing, reliable scheduling, and prompt communication. Several long-term clients (eight and ten years) speak to the company's staying power and consistency.
One notably negative review references a previous ownership era and should be weighed accordingly; the current team under Max and Marc appears to operate with genuine care and fair pricing. For Pompano Beach residents who want a saltwater or freshwater tank that looks stunning without the stress of managing it themselves, Champion Aquariums delivers exactly that — reliably, personally, and with real expertise.

I rely on them to manage my tank in regard to all aspects, which they do in the most professional manner. Shout out to Jayden, Sarah and Max for treating my fish like kings and Queens of the ocean.”
— Gary Krat5.03 months ago“These guys are the bomb! Had an emergency with my small tank and they were there like the fire department!! They truly care and know what they're doing. Max is fish whisperer lol”
— Phillip Broomfield5.04 months ago“Very courteous and professional. Installed a 350+ custom tank which I mistakenly tried to maintain myself. Thankfully they came and corrected all my mistakes, and are now maintaining my beautiful tank.”

— Noam aronson5.05 months ago“Max and his team have been helping my son care for his budding axolotl breeding operation and they’re great! The axolotls — and their babies — are healthy and happy, and my son loves chatting with them about all the details of the animals he loves. We couldn’t recommend them more.”
— zacky wolf5.05 months ago“WARNING!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! It is no longer owned by Mark Champion and the new owner does not know anything about fish tanks. I could write a book about the awful experience I had with this company. I was told by 2 different companies that I overpaid by $15k to this company, they charged me for premium equipment that I did not get. Do your homework, they will tell you how they built the tank at Bass Pro Shop... Etc. But that was Mark Champion and his team years ago. These guys don't know anything. Terrible Experience. Call someone else!!”

They took the time to answer all of my questions. They do setup, maintenance and much more! For sure they are the correct option to keep your aquarium clean and with a great variety of healthy fish! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for expert advice and excellent service.”
