About
Fish World Spokane, tucked away in Spokane Valley, Washington, is the kind of family-owned tropical fish store that turns casual visits into hour-long adventures. Walk in and you'll find row after row of immaculately maintained tanks — freshwater and saltwater alike — housing everything from schools of blue neon tetras and chili rasboras to corydora catfish, red cherry shrimp, and dwarf anchor catfish. Their cichlid selection alone has been known to stop hobbyists in their tracks, with fish colored up so vibrantly that visitors start planning new tanks on the spot.
A dedicated discus tank adds another layer of wow, and a resident porcupine puffer has earned its own fan club. The live plant selection is robust, complemented by an impressive collection of driftwood, aquatic hardscaping stones, and substrate that could keep an aquascaper browsing for ages — one reviewer specifically warned to budget an extra hour just for the wood pile. Fish food varieties, supplies, and dry goods round out the inventory, making it a genuine one-stop shop for aquarium needs in the Spokane area.
What elevates Fish World above the typical fish store is the staff. Led by owner Jordan and a tight crew, they ask the right questions before selling you a single fish — what's your tank setup, what are you hoping to achieve, what's already swimming in there? Multiple reviewers describe consultations lasting nearly an hour, with zero judgment and patient explanations about tank cycling, compatibility, and proper care.
One hobbyist returning to the hobby after 15 years was gently steered away from his initial picks toward species that suited his setup far better. Pricing is consistently praised as reasonable, and the health of the livestock speaks for itself: reviewers report months without a single fish loss and zero parasite issues. The store stocks species that many hobbyists typically only find online, from neocaridina shrimp varieties to uncommon tetra species.
People drive two hours each way to shop here — and immediately start planning their next trip back.

Very healthy, happy fish. They have a hard time keeping the webpage updated so be sure to call and ask if your lookin for something particular. They have never not had what I was looking for. — Corey Robinson5.0a week ago“Will definitely be back! Honestly feel that the selection and condition of the animals and plants are superior to ANY of the other store options locally available. Vibe was calming and I didn’t feel pressured by the upselling of unnecessary stuff. We went to simply check out the shop for our 1st time and to possibly get a few friends to add to our aquarium. Staff asked questions about the environment we were going to add to, reasons for wanting to add friends and what we hope to achieve with new friends. We knew we wanted a specific type of fishy and was pointed to the differing types. Differences were explained and recommendations on who would be the best for us were made. A stop to come check out the place ended up us finding a new favorite for our aquatic needs. Oh!!!!! And they have an amazingly adorable porcupine puffer 😍😱🐡”

— Joe Sander5.04 weeks ago“All the fish in store were VERY well cared for and healthy. Absolutely amazed at the knowledge of the staff. They were so welcoming and educated us on the proper care and tank cycling to make our fish thrive. If you are even thinking of going else where to buy a fish in the spokane CDA area other than this place.. you are nuts.”
— PNW Guide Ritz5.0a month ago“I absolutely love coming here! BEAUTIFUL aquariums and HEALTHY ones too. I won’t go ANYWHERE else for my fish or fish stuff anymore they are by far the most reasonably priced too. :)) owner and workers are BEYOND helpful and kind. I’ve spent a good couple hundred dollars there now. And i definitely plan to go back for more stuff!! Even if you don’t buy anything it’s an amazing place to go just to look around at all the fish and stuff. All the fish I’ve got there were all very healthy and are still doing amazing in my tanks. :)) I’m so glad I found this place.”
