About
Sue's Pet Castle has been a St. George institution for decades — long enough that locals who grew up shopping here now bring their own kids through the doors. Under owners Jose and Corey, it has grown into Southern Utah's go-to independent fish store and pet shop, the kind of place where the staff understands your tank before they know your name.
The aquarium side is the heart of it. Sue's stocks both freshwater and saltwater fish for sale in St. George, UT, with tanks that reviewers repeatedly describe as clean and well-maintained — and longtime customers report that fish bought here outlast those from other shops by a wide margin.
One self-described "fish guy" who couldn't find a decent shop anywhere in Southern Utah calls Sue's his "home away from home," crediting the crew for sending him home with livestock that actually fits his setup. If you've been searching for a saltwater or freshwater aquarium store near you, this is the rare local spot where honest, no-upsell advice comes standard. Sue's is also one of the few places in town with axolotls for sale, alongside a deep reptile and amphibian selection — snakes, crested geckos, turtles, and newts among them.
Staff member Jose has hands-on experience building bioactive terrariums and is glad to walk you through a setup from scratch. On the supply side, you'll find aquarium equipment, dry goods, fish food, and frozen feeders, plus what regulars call the cheapest feeder fish in St. George and the best feeder insects in town.
Responsibly bred mice and rats, beautiful birds, and the occasional puppy or kitten round out the live animals. Prices can run a little above the big-box chains, but the trade-off is healthy livestock, clean enclosures, and staff like Corey, Mason, and Jose who genuinely know their stuff. For St.
George aquarium keepers and pet owners who want a real, independently owned fish store with personality and expertise, Sue's Pet Castle delivers.

“This place is awesome! They are super friendly and knowledgeable. We came in looking for shrimp and the guy working let us know that a fish in the tank was sick and didn’t want us to buy shrimp if they were going to make our fish sick. And honestly, I really appreciated that. A lot of other pet stores will sell you sick/contagious fish just to make money off you. It just goes to show that they really do care about your pets and not just making money off of you. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for healthy, happy fish for their tanks!”
— Mahala Biscamp5.0a week ago“Animal Antics is the best pet store in town. Offering variety, cleanliness, and knowledgable and friendly staff and service every time I've been in.”
— Jackson Ream5.02 weeks ago“The entire store appeared neglected. There was a noticeable odor throughout the building, and the fish tanks were visibly dirty. Most concerning was an adult bearded dragon being kept in a 10-gallon tank without proper heating. I ultimately took him in, but was still charged $100 despite his poor condition. The bearded dragon was suffering from multiple health issues, including dehydration and metabolic bone disease (MBD). At that price, it’s unlikely anyone would have purchased him, and at a minimum he should have been provided with a properly sized enclosure, such as a 40-gallon tank, along with appropriate heating and care. I was also disturbed by the way an employee handled him. The dragon was treated quite roughly, which was especially concerning given his obvious health problems and fragile condition. This is Doug, I’ve had him for a few days now and he’s already noticeably looking healthier. As a pet shop you guys need to be doing a lot better and actually taking care of your animals.”

— CAJ 1235.03 months ago“decided to come here for the first time since owner change. it was bad before but nothing changed. 75% of animals didnt have water, i saw a dead snake sitting at the front of its tank and EVERY snake was infested with mites. that causes disease and they need to be isolated. 100% if employees and owner put effort into research and care it wouldnt be like this but its apparent no one cares. thats legit animal abuse.”
