About
Reklaw Reef is a saltwater-focused aquarium store about 30–35 minutes outside San Antonio, TX, and the kind of place reefkeepers happily build a day around. Reviewers regularly mention driving an hour or more — some all the way from Austin — because owner James and his wife Adrianne Walker have grown the shop into one of the most trusted marine destinations in Central Texas. " The livestock is the headline.
You'll find healthy, colorful corals — frags and colonies — alongside reef fish, cleanup-crew snails, and invertebrates like the Pithos crabs James was recently scooping out for a customer. Marine stock is the heart of the shop, but there's a solid assortment of freshwater fish and African cichlids too, so corals, reef fish, and inverts for sale near San Antonio, TX share floor space with tanks for the freshwater crowd. Past visitors have brought home clownfish pairs and a Tailspot Blenny, all eating and stress-free.
Dry goods run deep for a shop this size, with names like Printed Reef and BRS on the shelves and high-quality nori at prices customers call hard to beat. Fair pricing comes up in review after review, and James is known for talking reefkeeping for an hour without ever pushing a sale. Service is the other pillar.
James and the Reklaw team handle full tank relocations — breaking down, transporting, and reassembling setups up to 240 gallons — plus maintenance, quarantine help, and patient guidance for newcomers planning a first build. There's even a comfortable couch where regulars settle in to talk saltwater. Bring the kids; the Walkers treat customers like family.
For San Antonio's reef community, Reklaw Reef is the local fish store worth the drive, with corals, marine fish, and supplies available in San Antonio, TX to anyone willing to make the trip out.

“Fantastic one stop shop for your aquarium. I have been to a lot of different lfs and this is easily one of the best. I can’t believe it took me so long to get out here as it’s now going to be my normal go to!! Picked up almost everything that I had been eyeing online and some high quality nori for an amazing price. The hours may be limited but the selection is not. Printed Reef, BRS, frags and colonies, inverts, fish and much much more”

I really enjoyed being in the store the other day when he was catching a few Pithos Crabs for us!! Get off the couch and drive out to Reklaw Reef, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for all you do, James!!”
— Bryan Banks5.0a month ago“I spent over $550 on fish here and within a week all three were dead or sick. Two fish showed signs of ich the day I brought them home, one of them died four days later. The third fish showed no symptoms but died within two days. I’m left with just one sick fish. James was responsive with advice throughout and seemed to genuinely care, which I appreciated. However, my display and QT tanks had been running healthy for over a year with no issues or additions, so the source of the problem was clear. When I asked for a partial refund of just $300, not even the full value of the fish that died, they hid behind their no-refund policy and offered store credit instead (that was only offered after asking for a refund), which is useless to me since I have no intention of starting this process over. I specifically chose Reklaw over online vendors like Dr. Reef and Fishotel because I wanted to support a local business, and this is how that loyalty was rewarded. The communication was decent, but selling fish carrying parasites and refusing any accountability isn’t something store credit fixes. Save yourself the heartache and money and buy from a vendor with an actual health guarantee that takes accountability when something is wrong.”
— Chris Tracy1.0a month ago“These guys are awesome. Talked with the owners for a couple hours today. Very helpful for someone wanting to get a saltwater aquarium. Good assortment of saltwater and African cichlids. Would definitely reccomend reklaw reef.”
— dennis everett5.0a month ago“I have been searching for a quality LFS in and around the San Antonio are for quite a while, but always ended up driving to Austin. Reklaw Reef came up in one of my coral searches but I always thought they were by appointment only. One Saturday I made the he call to see if they were open on weekends. And this is where I met James, and the person that actually runs the show, his wife Adrianne. :-) We ended talking about everything saltwater, not once in the conversation did he push any product or try to make a sale. Their main concern is for you to enjoy the saltwater hobby. Fast forward a year and I’m working with them on my 180gal tank build. James is my Amazon when it comes to anything saltwater, and if he doesn’t have it he will get it. Do yourself a favor… go stop by Reklaw Reef.. you will not be disappointed…even if you just want to hang out and talk about anything and everything saltwater (even freshwater) They have a really comfortable couch in the store!”
— Riaan van der Walt5.0a month ago“James and Reklaw Reef is my go to for anything saltwater tank. Even if it’s just to stop in to ask a question. James will take the time to listen and provide his expertise in all things aquariums. He’s also helped me move my tank as part of an insurance claim and handled everything beyond professionally. Can’t say enough good things about the team over there. Stop in once and you’ll be hooked!”
