About

Fish Gallery | Aquarium Superstore is one of the largest dedicated aquarium stores in Dallas, TX, and walking the floor feels closer to touring an exhibition than browsing a pet shop. The showroom is bright, spotless, and meticulously organized, anchored by a 2,000-gallon community tank in the lounge that anyone is welcome to admire — no purchase required. Reviewers consistently call the tank designs phenomenal, built with real driftwood and live plants instead of plastic decorations, and a few families mention being allowed to feed the koi while they browse.

Freshwater is where this store shines. Shoppers come specifically for bettas — one regular calls it "the place to buy bettas," noting the selection is gigantic and each fish gets a larger-than-average bowl. You'll also find Ember Tetras, mystery snails, and freshwater cichlids, including African cichlids like yellow labs, available in Dallas, TX alongside a deep wall of live aquarium plants for stocking a planted tank.

The saltwater side is smaller but real, with corals and marine fish for sale plus pre-balanced tank water you can buy by the gallon. Dry goods — frozen and prepared fish foods, filters, cleaning supplies, and hardscape — round out the retail floor. What regulars rave about most is the staff.

Jesse, Rocky, William, Zac, and Milan earn repeat shoutouts for patiently walking newcomers through first setups, from snail care to picking algae-eaters for a community tank; one teacher even left with a free snail egg clutch for her classroom. The crew also builds custom aquarium stands matched to a customer's kitchen cabinets and installs large 300-gallon systems on-site. Prices run above the big-box stores, and a few visitors note floor attention can be slow when it's busy, but the livestock looks healthy and lively.

5-star reputation as the city's premier aquarium superstore.

  • “Had a great experience! I was able to find a small nano tank for a great deal. Fish selection is amazing and the associates were able to help me with all my needs!”

  • “Got some plants for my tank here. It’s really nice and they have a lot of options for stocking a tank. I would recommend. It’s a little more pricey than the average pet store but it’s worth it”

  • “Blown away with this store and customer service. We passed it and turned around because our baby loves fish. We stopped in and Jesse and staff were so kind! They let us feed the Koi fish and we had a great time. Thousands of beautiful fish and all kinds of setups. Very organized, clean, and bright. Thank you for a great time!”

  • “Have been here a few times in the past. Had been going to the Boutique location before it closed doors as it was closer to my house. I buy frozen food for my freshwater fish and they have a larger section of that and a great selection of healthy looking fish. Unlike the generic pet stores, I didn't see dead and neglected fish in the tanks. Will be returning again.”

  • “Very good experience and extremely informative”

  • “Very clean. Very neat. Very posh. I like the store. But you are definitely paying a premium price for just about everything in here. Prices are definitely on the higher end compared to other fish stores. Would get my supplies elsewhere. Cannot speak to the quality of the fish. They all looked fine.”

  • “BUYERS: READ THE FINE PRINT BEFORE YOU SPEND A DIME HERE. Once your money crosses that counter, it’s theirs — period. We spent $36 on 5/23 on four cichlids and food. The staff sold us cobalt cichlids alongside peaceful yellow labs without a single word of warning that cobalts are one of the most aggressive fish in the hobby. Any specialty fish store worth its prices knows better. When the cobalt predictably terrorized our tank, we came back asking for a simple EXCHANGE — not a refund, an even swap for a compatible fish. The associate took one look at us and said “we don’t do returns” without checking our receipt, checking the policy, or getting a manager. Her solution? We could “surrender” the fish and get NOTHING. Let that sink in: they’ll happily take the fish back to resell, but won’t credit us a single dollar for it. Meanwhile, their own receipt states returns in good condition get 100% store credit. Their “no livestock guarantee” covers fish that die — not refusing an exchange of a perfectly healthy fish they shouldn’t have sold us in that combination in the first place. And this wasn’t a one-off bad day. Every time we walk into this location, the reception is cold. The fish are healthy and the selection is genuinely good — which makes it worse, because the after-sale service is where they show you who they are. I’ve emailed the manager contact printed on the receipt and I’m documenting everything. If this gets made right, I’ll gladly update this review. Until then: know that at this store, every sale is final the moment you pay — no matter what their receipt says.”

  • “Love this fish store! So many fresh and saltwater options. I even buy my tank water here so I don’t have to balance it at home.”

  • “We bought a custom aquarium stand from Fish Gallery and wanted it to match our kitchen cabinets. William, Jessie, and the whole crew were super helpful and easy to work with throughout the process. They really listened to what we wanted, and the finished stand looks amazing and blends perfectly with our kitchen. Great customer service, attention to detail, and quality workmanship. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Highly recommend Fish Gallery for anyone looking for a custom aquarium setup!”
