About
The Fish Place has anchored Fort Worth's aquarium scene for decades — one reviewer notes shopping here since 2004 and being glad to see it still thriving — and it remains the kind of independent shop where owner Jerry greets regulars by name and his dogs tag along to work. It's small, quiet, and intentionally unflashy; one visitor describes coming in just to listen to the water and watch the tanks, no purchase required. The livestock runs deep across freshwater, saltwater, and brackish setups.
On the freshwater side you'll find healthy tropical fish for sale in Fort Worth, TX, from discus that customers have grown huge to vampire swordtails, plecos, and feeder snails. The saltwater room holds marine specimens, corals, and invertebrates, while the live plant wall is a longtime favorite — premium aquatic species alongside discount plants that start at a dollar. Regulars also stop in for live brine shrimp and reasonably priced tank decor.
What earns serious reef keepers' trust is the old-school quarantine: each saltwater tank holds just a few specimens with observation dates posted, so you know exactly how long a fish has been in-house before it goes home with you. The staff is the heart of the place. Gilbert is named again and again for walking first-timers through endless questions, and he and Nam recently rescued one customer's two neglected tanks — nitrates down, fish thriving again.
Sam won over a family with her patience over the phone, Littleton designs and maintains marine builds including a stunning 175-gallon showpiece, and a newer trainee already drew praise on the floor. Jerry himself once helped a longtime discus owner treat a bacterial infection rather than just sell a replacement. Add a military discount, frequent buy-one-get-one deals, and well over 100 species on display, and this Fort Worth aquarium store offers the full local fish store experience.
Stop in and see the tanks for yourself.

— Michael Volpe (Volpes Visisons)5.02 months ago“I have two tanks and both were in horrible condition. Hired TFP and they have done an amazing job. Nitrates are down, wife is happy, and fish are living. WTG Gilbert and Nam!”
— Brian Davis5.03 months ago“These guys rock!! My new fish store! :)”
— Mark5.03 months ago“Fantastic experience! They had so many varieties of healthy tropical and freshwater fish. The employees were fabulous, super helpful and you could tell they loved their job. Big shout out to the new girl that was training, she was amazing! All my new fish are happy and thriving. I will be back!”
— Kris Wheel5.03 months ago“Jerry and his employees are absolutely the best. I bought some beautiful discus from him a couple of years ago. My discus are huge!!! Today he helped me save one of them that had a bacterial infection. You can go to the “big box pet stores” but their employees have zero knowledge about fresh and salt water fish. This is the place to go!”
— Jana Iglesia5.03 months ago“A small but very quiet shop with a peaceful interior, free from noise and commotion. Sometimes, you don't even need to buy fish; just watching them and listening to the water's sounds and their movements is enough to satisfy you. They have both freshwater and saltwater fish, and the tank decorations are incredibly eye-catching. Wow, it's hard to describe! I often come here to buy live brine shrimp for my small fish, and the prices are very reasonable. The owners and staff are friendly and very enthusiastic. Come and experience it for yourself!”
— SAI GON FISHING5.03 months ago“Have bought lots of fish here. Great help, decent prices, lots of knowledge. Great place in my opinion.”
— MICHAEL SPAULDING5.06 days ago“Great assortment of fish! A good amount of exotics and larger fish.”
