About
J & M Pet Land is a general pet store in Clarksville, Tennessee, and for local fishkeepers it doubles as a budget-friendly neighborhood fish store tucked among the reptiles, small mammals, and birds. The aquarium side is built around a rotating wall of freshwater tanks: community fish for sale in Clarksville, TN at prices that undercut the big-box chains, plus freshwater shrimp and a small selection of aquarium plants to browse when you're setting up or restocking a tank. Hobbyists searching for affordable freshwater fish near me often land here because the shop tends to stay stocked when PetSmart runs dry.
What regulars mention most is the staff. " The warmth shows up in small moments: when a young girl's fair fish died, a staff member reopened right at closing to send her home with a replacement. That kind of personal service keeps a loyal base of Clarksville reptile and aquarium hobbyists coming back.
Beyond the tanks, J & M is a go-to for live feeders — crickets, mealworms, feeder mice and rats — at some of the best prices in town and reliably in stock. Turtle keepers and snake owners find supplies and straightforward guidance here too. That said, the reviews are genuinely split, so shop with your eyes open.
Some visitors praise clean tanks and a friendly greeting; others report dirty tanks, a rundown feel, and fish that didn't survive long after going home. The store does honor a fish return policy with a receipt. If you're buying live fish or shrimp available in Clarksville, TN, it's worth inspecting the tanks first, asking staff about recent arrivals, and quarantining new additions before introducing them to an established setup.

“I am personally not a fan from puppies in cages. But the dogs and all other animals looked very healthy. The workers there are very invested in their jobs and super helpful.”
— Christina Craddock5.06 days ago“Wish I could give 0. Poor animals living in terrible conditions. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!”
— Paulina Cruz1.0a week ago“My little sister got a fish from the fair and it died. I went to this location right as it was closing and the Hispanic man went back in and got me a fish for her because she was so distraught. This made her day and I appreciate him so much.”
— Jessica Claxton5.03 weeks ago“Staff was unhelpful. We attempted to talk to them both about the fish we need, two female staff at 1220 on May 21 2026, and they just sent us away. We looked at their fish selection, and plants they didn't end up having what we needed. They had puppies, avaliable that were unkempt, and very sad looking, their water was also empty. Very sad place overall.”
— Leandra Edringer1.0a month ago“Bought and paid for a GIRL bunny in September 2025 which is more than a boy. Just a couple of days ago, I discovered that this girl bunny has a penis. About a month ago I bought a girl companion for what I thought was girl bunny. I assumed that the constant attempts to hump was a dominance thing until I discovered that it was in fact not a girl. I called the store immediately upon discovering this. They insist that someone else could have “mixed them up”. Even if that were the case, it was the only one left….like are you not tracking “inventory”?? They’ve refused to rectify the issue in any manner. I didn’t just buy a bunny that day. I spent over $200 on supplies as well. It’s left a bad taste in my mouth and I probably will never go back. If you’re looking for bunnies there’s a lady in Clarksville that sells lions head bunnies for $35 each.”
— Tara1.03 months ago“Interesting place. Very kind and down to earth. Very knowledgeable. And they have amazing prices when it comes to meal worms and things of the such. All sorts of snakes and reptiles. Awesome place for fish enthusiastic people.”
— Tyler Frankenstein5.04 months ago“The man working was very helpful & friendly. Was able to get just what I needed for my turtle. They also have some very cute puppies in the store.”
