About
PNW Bettas is a small, betta-obsessed freshwater fish store in Corvallis, OR, and it lives up to its name — the bettas here genuinely stop people in their tracks. Walk-in visitors describe rows of stunning, glowing-healthy specimens, from yellow halfmoons to fish so vivid that regulars joke the hardest part is choosing just one. These are a world away from the cups on big-box shelves, and the shop backs that quality with honesty, including an adoption program for bettas that need a second chance, each listed with a frank note about its condition.
There's far more than bettas, though. The freshwater livestock for sale in Corvallis, OR includes guppies, Black Bar Endlers, Neocaridina shrimp like Green Rili, snails, and a rotating cast of harder-to-find species, alongside a deep bench of live plants, aquascaping materials, and fishkeeping supplies. As an Aquarium Co-Op partner store, PNW Bettas stocks trusted dry goods and food that draw hobbyists in from out of town to restock.
What customers rave about most is the people. Carlos turns up again and again in recent reviews as the resident "fish nerd" — patient, deeply knowledgeable, and happy to field a thousand questions or help a newcomer build a tank from scratch. The owner earns the same praise — accommodating last-minute visits, patiently answering every question, and showing real kindness to a young autistic customer overwhelmed with excitement at all the fish.
The shop is bright, spotless, and well organized — comfortable to browse rather than hot and cramped — and longtime locals note it has only grown more polished since it opened. There's a genuine community here: people name their bettas, send photos months later, and treat the store as a learning space as much as a place to shop. For Willamette Valley fishkeepers hunting for a healthy betta or shrimp near me, PNW Bettas is the place to find one, one beautifully finned fish at a time.

“*the owner got back to me and let me know there was an emergency. Still frustrated because of the long drive and no notice or Google update, if I'm in the area I'll stop by and give it another try. After checking the website and Google listing. I drove an hour today to get a new fish. The local pet stores fish just looked sad. Unfortunately when I arrived, the store was closed. Waited over an hour and checked back, still closed. The store looked like a mess. Tried calling. Emailing and Instagram. No response. So there goes half of my day, and no fish for the 2 tanks I have set up. Really wanted to love this place!”

As a college student in Corvallis, I was really happy when I heard we were getting a betta shop in town. The shop has improved a lot since opening and it looks so much better now. Unlike a lot of other fish stores, this place is super clean and well organized. It is not crazy hot or cramped, so it is actually comfortable to walk around and look at everything. The customer service is honestly the best I have experienced at any fish store. Carlos knows his stuff and is always really nice and helpful. The owner is great too, and the previous employees were awesome as well. You can tell they really care about both the fish and the customers.”
