About

Low Tide Corals & Aquatics has quickly established itself as Syracuse's go-to destination for reef keepers and freshwater hobbyists alike. Located at 130 Seeley Road, the shop built its reputation on an exceptional coral selection — healthy, colorful frags that reviewers describe as thriving in spotless, well-maintained tanks. Customers regularly drive significant distances for the coral alone, and higher-end pieces move fast enough that some buyers put them on hold between visits.

But Low Tide isn't strictly a saltwater operation. The freshwater side holds its own with a solid selection of live plants, healthy fish, and even frogs and other amphibians. One reviewer noted finding the aquatic plants they wanted alongside a nice display of nano tank setups.

Staff can also special-order fish they don't currently carry, typically within a week. The people behind the counter are a major draw. Zach comes up repeatedly in reviews — customers praise his reef-safe fish recommendations, his ability to troubleshoot tank problems, and his habit of remembering names and shaking hands.

The owner has been known to let curious visitors in on closed days just to talk saltwater. There's a dedicated freshwater specialist whom customers find approachable and clearly passionate about her section of the store. Pricing is frequently cited as fair and competitive, with several reviewers noting the value justifies the drive from surrounding areas.

The shop stocks dry goods, frozen foods, and the essentials needed to keep both saltwater and freshwater systems running. They also operate an online store with shipping options, though some customers have reported occasional hiccups with the online ordering process. The vibe at Low Tide is laid-back and welcoming — the kind of place where a visit for snails turns into a thirty-minute conversation about reef chemistry, and a toddler gets a sticker on the way out.

For Syracuse-area aquarists, it's become the local fish store that actually feels local.

  • “Placed and order. Received an email asking if it was OK to ship tomorrow. I responded yes. Then Received an email stating they were very busy and might not have all the snails I ordered and asked if they could be substituted with other snails. I wrote back that was OK. The Received a third email asking if I was picking orde up or if they were shipping ( which was asked in this first email). I responded shipping like i had inducated when ordering. Then Received a 4th email telling me that there website said it was a pick up order and they would send me another invoice for the shipping. Very unprofessional beware of this company.”

  • “I was able to find the aquatic plants I wanted, along with being able to see different styles of nano tanks. The lady who assisted me was very helpful”

  • “My husband and I cannot recommend this place enough! We meant Zach last week he sold us a frog and had great convos with us. Zach shook my husbands hand and introduced himself very professionally. We wanted 2 more frogs so he put down they needed more and this week they already had more for us! We went in and Zach immediately shook my husbands hand and remembered his name. My husband also was talking with another worker for several minutes about frogs and other amphibians. We also have a very hyper toddler and they show so much patience with her and offered her a sticker both times we stopped in.. Whether you are into fish or frogs or something else these guys will take the time to talk to you and treat you like family. You can tell they all care very much about not just the animals but us customers as well. However with how well they treat us we don't even feel like customers. Thank you guys so much for making us feel very comfortable asking questions! We will continue to support this wonderful shop!”
