About
Tucked into Spencerport, New York, Marine Oasis is one of those family-run shops that defies first impressions. The storefront shares space with a full RC hobby shop — complete with Traxxas banners in the window — which means first-time visitors often do a double-take before discovering rows of immaculate freshwater and saltwater tanks filling the other half of the building. It's a quirky combination, but the fish side of the operation is serious business.
The husband-and-wife team running Marine Oasis keeps their tanks notably clean, a detail that nearly every reviewer mentions. Healthy, vigorous fish are the standard here, not the exception. Customers have purchased albino corydoras, tropical freshwater species, black axolotls, and live plants — all reported thriving long after they left the store.
The saltwater side carries fish that look good by all accounts, though coral selection is limited based on reviewer feedback. What sets Marine Oasis apart is the personal attention. Bring a cup of your tank water and the owner will test it for free, then walk you through what your aquarium needs.
She's known for sourcing hard-to-find fish on request, and multiple customers have driven from towns like Canandaigua — well outside the Spencerport area — because the service made the trip worthwhile. There's no pressure selling here; the owners take genuine time to educate and guide purchases, whether it's your first tank setup or your tenth. The space is admittedly compact and a bit cluttered — the RC inventory and aquarium supplies compete for every square inch — but that density is part of the charm.
You'll find filters, tank décor, and supplies alongside the livestock. Fair pricing is consistently praised across reviews. A practical note: the parking lot entrance is rough, so higher-clearance vehicles fare better.
And double-check hours before visiting, as it's a small operation. But for clean tanks, healthy fish, honest prices, and owners who genuinely care about your success as a fishkeeper, Marine Oasis earns every bit of its loyal following in the Rochester-area aquarium community.

“When to purchase some tropical freshwater fish they were very healthy and doing well”
— David Piniewski4.03 months ago“4 meses pra entregar 2 polvos. Não recomendo. Depois de 4 meses sem receber os animais, pedi meu reembolso e a política de de apenas 50% do valor se aplica a esse caso também... Um absurdo. Completo descaso com o cliente ainda mais pra quem revende. Não recomendo de jeito nenhum.”

— Stephanie Marble1.05 months ago“Purchased 9 albino corys they're all doing absolutely great, highly recommend to stop in and check it out, they have nice saltwater tanks aswell as freshwater with a welcoming vibe - very great customer service and great looking tanks, thank you!”

— Lloyd Webb5.011 months ago“Tanks were very clean. Animals all looked healthy. Mixed in with a RC hobby shop. Only suggestion is tidying the place up. Very small and a lot of clutter.”

Definitely worth a visit if you've never checked it out. Would recommend a vehicle with decent ground clearance since the entrance to the parking lot is a bit gnarly.”

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I walked in but there’s tons of rc everything mixed in with fish. Oh and a bird and some black axolotl’s. I’m not into rc but I’m sure they have what you need there. I came for the fish! I glimpsed at the salt water real quick and the fish looked good. I have freshwater tanks and that’s what I was there for. I have to say all the tanks were clean. I didn’t see a single dead or sick fish in any of the tanks. All the fish were vigorous, lively and super healthy. Which is a big plus vs most other stores I’ve been to. It might be a little cramped a little crowded but if you’re there for nice fish it’s worth it. The husband and wife were nice and friendly. I’ll be back.”
