About
Tucked into Stewartsville, NJ, That Pond Place is the kind of specialty shop pond owners will happily drive past three garden centers to reach — some make the trip from across the line in Pennsylvania just for it. Owned and run by Mike and Christina, it is a dedicated pond destination where the outdoor grounds feel like an oasis: display ponds, koi gliding through clear water, and open-air aisles of aquatic plants. Regulars say they stop in just to wander, and usually leave with another armful of plants and a good conversation.
The plant selection is the heart of it. Water lilies, hyacinths, lotus, lily pads, and hardy marginals turn over season after season, and customers report their lotus and lily pads thriving within weeks of getting them home. The shop also keeps koi and goldfish for sale in Stewartsville, NJ, along with bullfrog tadpoles, trapdoor snails, a now-legendary "driftwood forest," rocks, filtration systems, aerators, and bacteria treatments for water clarity.
As a pond supply and fish store, if it relates to a backyard water feature, it is likely on a shelf or in an outdoor display. What sets the place apart is the full-service pond work. Mike and his crew handle everything from new builds that blend into existing landscaping to complete rebuilds — one 33-year-old pond was redone in four days, fish and frogs safely held while the liner, stone, and waterfall were replaced.
Another customer's algae-choked 1/3-acre pond was cleaned, fitted with a larger aerator, and put on a healthy bacteria regimen that finally cleared years of green water. The consultation alone is worth the visit. Mike and Christina genuinely listen, troubleshoot water chemistry, and answer every question without pushing product.
The interior is eclectic and artistic, stocked with pond décor and koi windsocks — and the staff once treated a visitor's dog like a celebrity. For anyone maintaining a backyard pond or dreaming of one near Stewartsville, this is the real deal.

“Mike built our pond for us and did an amazing job! He made great suggestions and made it fit beautifully into our existing landscape. The store he and his wife Christina own really has anything you would ever need for your pond. We stop in often just to walk around and look. I usually end up buying more beautiful plants and have nice conversations with them. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting any type of water feature! -Erica Wills”

The driftwood forest is incredible and the selection of plants and supplies is endless! So far I’ve gotten Lilly pads, a couple different plants, some tadpoles and a cool piece of driftwood! I’ll be back soon!”

— Phillip Campbell5.03 months ago“Beautiful atmosphere! I could sit with a glass of wine here all day. The owners and staff feel like family and are beyond patient to answer my pond questions and trouble-shoot nuances. The fish are unique and gorgeous. I could visit ahere like people do Marshall’s and Target!”
— Katherine R5.04 months ago“The team at That Pond Place were phenomenal. We had them completely redo our pond that was 33 years old. The team showed up Monday morning on time and we're able to remove all the fish and frogs and store them in a large holding tank. They removed the liner and were able to redig and setup for the next day for placing the liner and start placing stones. They completely made the pond look like it was natural to our existing pond area and made it a little bigger. You can't see the liner at all and the waterfall is excellent. The whole process was completed by Thursday when they put all the fish and frogs back in the new pond. We would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to redo a old pond or have a new one installed.”
— D Driesen5.05 months ago“Our 1/3 acre pond was a disaster. Full of algae and muck and the folks before us kept hitting it with algicide which not only didn't work it dropped the dead to the bottom creating more nutrients for more algae, vicious circle. Mike and his team took 2 days to clean it up, put us on a healthy bacteria regiment which will naturally solve the algae problem, installed a larger aerator and lovely hardy plants. It is such a big feature of the property and now it looks amazing instead of heartbreaking. Very reasonable price for all of the work it took and fantastic follow up when we had a small issue with the aerator. I could not recommend them more highly.”
— Beth Aberg5.05 months ago“Went to visit this lovely shop today. We just built a new pond and I was looking for guidance. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I left with water lillies hyacinths and a filtration system. I had such a wonderful experience! Once my pond cycles for a bit, I can't wait to return for more plants and some fish!”
