Wabash River Reptiles and Aquatics fills a niche that Vincennes, Indiana has needed for a long time — a local source for live feeders, reptile husbandry supplies, and freshwater fish without making the hour-plus drive to Evansville or Terre Haute. Owner Gary has built a loyal following among reptile keepers in the area, and his knowledge of herp care comes through in nearly every customer interaction. Whether someone is a first-time snake parent or keeping a growing Burmese python, Gary takes the time to answer questions and make sure people leave with what they need.
The store's reptile side is clearly its strongest suit. Reviewers mention ball pythons, bearded dragons, box turtles, leopard geckos, tarantulas, and a variety of lizards on display, along with a robust stock of feeder insects — crickets, dubia roaches, and frozen and live rodents. One customer noted the shop carries large-scale husbandry equipment suitable for bigger reptiles, not just the small-terrarium essentials most stores limit themselves to.
The selection of driftwood and decorative wood has also drawn praise. On the aquatics side, the store carries live freshwater fish and basic fish supplies. One long-time hobbyist was thrilled to spot a species they'd been searching for over two decades — a testament to the occasionally surprising inventory.
Crabs and invertebrates round out the livestock offerings. It's worth noting some recurring frustrations: the store's posted hours have proven unreliable, with multiple customers arriving during supposed business hours to find the doors locked. Cleanliness and tank upkeep have also drawn mixed feedback.
And while most find pricing competitive, live feeder rodent prices caught at least one customer off guard after a Facebook inquiry quoted a lower figure. Still, the community support for this relatively new shop is genuine and enthusiastic. For Vincennes-area reptile and fish keepers, having a knowledgeable local resource beats a long drive every time.
Gary's passion for the animals is evident, and the store continues to grow its inventory and following.

pretty sure it was most definitely the dirtiest establishment i have ever been in for a pet store. I do own a lot of reptiles and always have they take loads of maintenance and that place didn’t have it!!!

Dude either fix your Saturday hours online and on your voice-mail, or actually be open when you say you are. Ridiculous.

I'm from out of town visiting my daughter and grand daughter and trying to help out where I can. So I ran some errands for her and her boyfriend i.e. getting frozen rat for his snake. Had a few good laughs with the owners parents, they were very accommodating and pretty funny as well. Certainly a small shining moment in a great vacation!!! Would definitely buy dead rodents for someone else's snake there again!!!

First time in there. I purchased dubia roaches for my wife’s tarantula and the price was reasonable for the amount you could choose from. I went at 4:05 and the cashier seemed a little off putting but it might have been just because it just opened. Either way, I will be going back once I need more.
