About
Aquarium World has become the aquarium store Lafayette's fishkeepers happily drive out of their way to reach, and one visit makes the loyalty obvious. Rows of sparkling-clean display tanks line the freshwater and saltwater sections — some lush with live plants and natural hardscape, others glowing with corals and marine life. Reviewers regularly call it the best fish store within a hundred miles, and the variety backs it up: nano fish, cichlids and African cichlids, bettas, axolotls, shrimp, crabs, and starfish all share the floor.
If you keep a reef, the saltwater fish and corals for sale in Lafayette, IN are a genuine draw, with hobbyists praising healthy, well-priced livestock and an affordable coral section. What keeps people coming back is the staff. Kayla recently spent unhurried time helping a couple who'd driven in for several fish and a new 32-gallon Fluval Flex tank, greeting them with patience and a smile instead of rushing the sale.
Kirsten earned similar praise for walking a newcomer through cycling a fresh tank. The team is consistently described as knowledgeable and happy to troubleshoot fish health, stocking, and equipment questions without a hard sell. The shop stocks essentially everything needed to set up and maintain both freshwater and saltwater systems, from filtration and lighting to live plants and dry goods.
Pond keepers are covered too: alongside aquatic plants and even a handful of trees on site, you'll find koi-pond plants, algae-treatment products, and staff ready to help diagnose pond problems. There's also a small herp section with reptiles and amphibians for the cold-blooded crowd. One practical tip echoed by longtime customers: dip and quarantine new plants, since pest snails can hitch a ride.
Still, for anyone Googling "fish store near me" around Lafayette, an aquarium shop of this caliber is something the local hobby doesn't take for granted — plenty of visitors walk in for supplies and leave dreaming of a bigger tank.

— shari sillery5.0a month ago“I’ll delete this once I know it’s been seen by staff, as I usually have a pleasant experience here. I visited today to get help/advice about my sick fish. I asked the man at the front if I could speak to someone who has the most knowledge in fish illnesses. With a condescending tone he asks ‘you have a question about fish?’ I repeat my question again. He then gave me the biggest, most obvious eye roll I’ve ever encountered and said ‘what’s the question?’. I stated that I don’t like his attitude and that I won’t be asking him questions. The store was empty with zero customers. I walked out and called another fish store, which gave me the complete opposite experience and was very compassionate and caring. I’m honestly shocked at the disregard for feelings, especially when it involves a sick pet.”
— Kendall Head1.0a month ago“Very well set up freshwater and saltwater sections with beautiful display tanks and a good variety of fish, plant, and coral species. There is also a small herp section that sells reptiles and amphibians.”

— Craig Whitson5.0a month ago“Excellent fish store! The staff are so nice, patient, knowledgeable and professional. Kayla helped us today. We drove a distance to get quite a few fish and a new 32gallon Fluval Flex tank. She was so helpful and had a smile on her face the entire time. When we visited this establishment, we were always greeted with kindness. No rushing to get us out of the store. As we perused the store, many staff member asked if we needed help, but Kayla is the girl! Unfortunately they didn't have a large variety of south and central American cichlids. They were sold out! That is just an excuse to visit again in the future. Aquarium World offers a variety of nano fish, cichlids and African cichlids. They offer a variety of aquariums and everything you need for your hobby. Keep up the great work. Kayla needs to be acknowledged by management for her excellent customer service.”
