Uncle Bill's Pet Centers in Greenwood, Indiana is a sprawling, family-owned operation that's been a fixture for locals who grew up visiting its aisles full of puppies, reptiles, small mammals, and a dedicated fish room. It's the kind of place where you can pick up feeder mice for your snake, browse freshwater fish, stock a pond with koi, or take home hermit crabs — all under one roof. The fish department draws steady traffic, and multiple reviewers highlight the staff's willingness to test water samples and walk customers through product recommendations.
Caleb and Taylor have earned praise for their patience and knowledge in the fish room, greeting customers and fielding detailed questions about tank care. The freshwater and pond selections include koi, though at least one customer reported serious losses after purchasing pond fish, citing potential illness in the stock and frustration with the store's no-guarantee policy. Beyond fish, Uncle Bill's Greenwood carries a broad inventory of reptiles, birds, small mammals, and dogs and cats, along with accessories and supplies ranging from harnesses to terrariums.
Tyler, a frequently mentioned employee, has become something of a local legend — reviewers describe him spending hours helping customers choose the right lizard, advising turtle keepers, and making the shopping experience genuinely fun. His dedication clearly keeps people coming back. That said, Uncle Bill's reputation is a mixed bag.
Pricing runs high — ferrets, bird cages, and puppies have all drawn sticker shock — and animal care concerns surface regularly in reviews, with complaints about cramped enclosures, reptile mites, and cleanliness issues in the dog area. Customer service can be hit-or-miss depending on which staff member you encounter. For Greenwood residents who want a one-stop pet shop with live animals and hands-on browsing, Uncle Bill's still delivers variety that big-box retailers can't match.
Just come prepared to advocate for yourself and inspect livestock carefully before purchasing.

I've been coming here every week for over a year for mice for my snake, and I've always had no issue and great time. Friendly people, great service !! I always go to the back to see the kitties, ferrets, and snakes and such. This place is incredible and have been to it since I was younger. Best place I can get live mice nearby without spending all my money !! Really good pet selections, too !!

Let the employees know about a very bad mite problem with their reptiles and got told a care free I know while all the reptiles were still on substrate and the size of the mites and the amount just on one ball python was unbelievable.

I'm not sure how this place is still in business. Can't ever get help and when you do they don't have a clue what they are doing.
