About
Uncle Bill's Pet Centers in Greenwood, Indiana is a long-running, family-owned shop where the fish room has built its own loyal following. Walk in and you'll find rows of freshwater tanks alongside a dog and cat area, noisy birds, reptiles, and small mammals — the kind of one-stop pet store that big-box chains can't quite match. Regulars call it their "go-to fish spot," and the aquatic section is where plenty of Greenwood hobbyists start a new tank.
The freshwater and pond selection is the real draw for aquarium keepers. You'll find koi and pond fish for sale in Greenwood, IN, plus community freshwater stock, oddballs like shovel-nose tiger catfish, African dwarf frogs, and tankmates such as crayfish and mini lobsters. Live feeder fish are stocked too, so snake and reptile owners often make the same trip.
If you're hunting for koi near me or the start of a freshwater setup, this is one of the few fish stores in the area carrying that range under one roof. What keeps fishkeepers coming back is the crew in the fish room. Tyler is the name that surfaces again and again — reviewers describe him testing water samples on the spot, walking new turtle and tank owners through the right products, and even fixing a customer's filter motor without hassle.
Caleb, Taylor, and Becca earn similar praise for greeting people the moment they reach the fish room and patiently fielding questions. Bring a water sample and you'll usually leave with a clear plan. Now under newer ownership — one regular notes the new owner "is very kind and works the register quite often" — the store is still working on consistency.
Pricing runs high, and a few buyers have reported losses after taking livestock home, so it's smart to inspect fish closely and ask about their health before you buy. For Greenwood residents who want to browse live freshwater fish in person and talk to someone who actually keeps tanks, Uncle Bill's remains a dependable local fish store.

— Charles Hickman3.06 days ago“I recently visited uncle bills in greenwood and I got a snake, it’s covered with mites which they did not mention that it had. They also handle their snakes aggressively and are unprofessional. Not to mention their aquarium area has a bunch of deceased fish”
— Jacob Peters2.0a week ago“Extremely skinny and unhealthy blue tounge.”
— ?1.02 weeks ago“Worst experience with management that I have ever had! She was RUDE and very disrespectful to my grandchildren! I will NEVER go into that store again.”
— Roxie Henson1.03 weeks ago“This place is wonderful. They have everything I need and I have cats, dogs, bearded dragon, snakes and rats. The price is a little higher than other pet places but it's a one stop shop. I really enjoy this new owner that they have also. She's very kind and works the register quite often.”
— Muahaha5.0a month ago“Nice people”
— Jeff Rehmel5.0a month ago“Went today to get a new cat for our home, lady at front desk refused to help and told me ‘no’ when I asked… then she proceeded to say she can’t get the cats out because she’s the only one… at that point I told her that I’ll take my business elsewhere… she then proceeded to be able to open the cage… when we checked out she was extremely rude to most customers and the reptile worker who was just trying to help her. We needed the day with an adorable pet but the experience was NOT anything I would ever return to. She needs a new career.”
— samantha Harper2.0a month ago“Great customer care and give full ear to their customer and guiding them about which pet is good and what food, toys etc will be suitable for them.”
