I contacted a very good friend of mine, Marcye Sweeney (she used to own Sea in the City) and asked her advice on who I should go to for a new tank. For her, that was a no brainer: "Go to Top Shelf Aquatics (TSA) in Winter Park.", So I did. After exchanging emails, my wife and I went to the store and met with Jed Pancza. Jed was amazing. He knows reef tanks inside and out, and never once pressured us to buy any particular tank. We eventually chose the Red Sea Max Reefer 425 G3 system with the TSA upgrades. In addition, I didn't want just a pile of rocks in my aquarium and opted for a "Custom Rock Structure". Today, Gene and Ernesto arrived at 9am, right on time. Gene immediately gave the vibe of someone who also knew what he was doing, and that he thoroughly enjoyed setting up tanks. They first helped me move my small RSM 130D tank and then proceeded to set up my new tank. I tend to ask a lot of questions, and Gene was happy to answer them all. He was meticulous in his work, took his time, made sure everything was perfect and then spent 20-30 minutes going through the apps, making sure I understood everything. Almost 4 hours later, Gene and Ernesto had set up the tank, trained me, and left the house as clean as when the arrived. The Custom Rock Structure wasn't cheap. But just look at the picture. The old adage: "You get what you pay for" applies. This rock design in beyond beautiful. I can just imagine them covered in coral some day. Bottom line: Top Shelf Aquatics lives up to their name. They are indeed a Top Shelf company.”
