About
8-star rating one careful conversation at a time. Run by Dr. Wood — a marine biologist who has been known to keep the shop open on holidays so a customer can haul 80 gallons of saltwater for a Red Sea 300 G2+ — and staffed by people like Sarah, who walks newcomers through their very first saltwater setup with patience and genuine investment, this is a shop built on relationships as much as livestock.
The footprint may look modest from the outside, but inside it's packed with freshwater and saltwater fish, corals, live plants, and invertebrates that reviewers say are hard to find at other South Florida shops. One customer was stunned to discover Sulawesi freshwater shrimp — a rare variant almost never seen in retail stores — while others have found wishlist fish they'd been hunting for locally. The coral selection draws repeat visits, and Dr.
Wood's hand-built rock structures for aquascaping, complete with caves and tunnels, have earned particular praise from reef keepers outfitting their tanks. What sets Coral Sea apart is the depth of guidance. Staff take real time to explain tank cycling timelines, fish compatibility, and the importance of quarantine tanks before introducing new livestock.
Sarah has become a touchstone for hobbyists starting their first platty and tiger barb freshwater tanks and then graduating to saltwater under her mentorship. The shop also handles professional tank moving — one reviewer reported zero fish or shrimp loss during a full relocation. Service technicians also rely on Coral Sea when they're in a pinch, which speaks to the store's inventory reliability and the trust it has built with the local aquarium community.
For anyone in the West Palm Beach area looking for healthy, carefully sourced fish and corals paired with marine-biologist-level advice, Coral Sea Aquariums delivers something the big-box stores simply cannot.

I love that they care such for their fish that they will take the time to go over all the info you need to successfully keep fish and to also go over timelines on when you should introduce your fish - as well as which fish to keep with others as well!”

— Joey Gutierrez5.06 months ago“Just a great business! I was filling up a Red Sea 300 G2+, on a holiday of all days, and needed 80 gallons of water fast. I called a few stores and they were closed but then I got a hold of Dr. Wood from Coral Sea Aquariums and he kept his store open for me until I could make a few runs back and forth to fill the tank. Luckily, I live only a few miles away! When I arrived he was very helpful, professional, and knowledgable! After seeing his rock structures and set up for aquascaping, I ended up buying a bunch of rock for the aquascape for my aquarium! The aquascaping he does is the best! My fish love the number of caves and tunnels he showed we how to build! Highly recommend!!!”
