About
Underwater Tropics is a locally owned, family-run freshwater aquarium store in Tallahassee that serves first-time fishkeepers and longtime hobbyists alike. The shop says it specializes in healthy freshwater fish, shrimp, snails, live aquarium plants and premium aquarium supplies, and it names sustainability and quality as its top priorities. Owner Keyton Bielecky writes that he and his brother spent the past decade experimenting with aquarium styles and learning to aquascape together, and the displays show it.
" The livestock mixes a long list of staple fish with unusual oddballs, and one recent visitor came away impressed by hard-to-find species like glass catfish and albino Congo tetras. Customers describe the fish as healthy and well cared for, and a regular appreciates that bettas get their own tanks rather than cups. If something is not in stock, reviewers say staff are happy to bring it in for pickup at the store.
Between freshwater fish for sale in Tallahassee, FL, and a wide range of plants, decor, tanks and aquascaping supplies, the shop covers just about everything a home aquarium needs. The staff are the other draw. Reviewers credit them with patient, knowledgeable help, whether that means walking a family through a starter tank for a child, explaining which fish can live together, or sorting out a problem with a filter and heater.
For hands-off upkeep, the shop offers tank servicing by quote, and its service request form lists filter cleaning, gravel vacuuming, glass cleaning and water testing. The website also points to koi, ponds and custom aquariums, and one customer says the staff were patient at every step of a backyard pond project with a fountain, plants and fish. Shoppers call the prices fair for the quality, one parent says the kids love coming in to look at the fish, and at least one visitor found it worth the drive down from Albany, GA.
Whether you are setting up a first tank or moving up to a bigger one, Underwater Tropics is a friendly, well-organized fish shop with a deep freshwater selection.
