Walk into Aquatic Galleria in St. Petersburg and the first thing you notice is that this isn't a typical fish store. Recently expanded to nearly three times its original footprint, the space feels more like a boutique aquascaping studio — sparkling tanks line the walls, curated display aquascapes invite you to sit and stare, and a dedicated hardscape section overflows with stones, driftwood, and premium substrates begging to be arranged.
Owner Anulak has built something genuinely special in the Tampa Bay area. His focus on freshwater livestock is razor-sharp: Apistogrammas — including cockatoo and Hongsloi varieties — are bred on-site and seemingly always in stock. Rare rainbowfish, uncommon corydoras, bichirs, nano fish, fancy shrimp, and dart frogs round out a livestock selection that reviewers consistently describe as healthy and diverse.
Every fish is quarantined before hitting the sales floor, and the tanks themselves are maintained to a standard that puts most competitors to shame. The live plant selection is equally impressive, with healthy specimens suited to everything from low-tech betta setups to high-tech planted masterpieces. The store carries Aquarium Co-op products — a brand that's notoriously hard to find in brick-and-mortar shops — alongside other carefully vetted equipment and supplies.
Nothing makes the shelf unless the team has tested and trusts it. What truly sets Aquatic Galleria apart is the experience. Anulak, along with Ann and Troy, will walk newcomers through every tank, feed fish so you can watch them actively, and patiently help you select beginner-friendly plants for a 10-gallon or source a rare species you've been hunting.
One customer left with a complete aquascaped setup built right in the store, staying past closing time without ever feeling rushed. For freshwater enthusiasts across the Bay Area — and visitors driving from Tampa and beyond — this is the destination. The passion is palpable, the livestock is pristine, and the aquascaping inspiration alone is worth the trip.

This privately owned fish store has some of the best Aquatics I have seen in a long time!! They have a fantastic selection of nano fish and dwarf cichlids. They even have an awesome aquascaping supplies section and a cool aquascaping work area. I can't wait to go back!

First things first, non-2A store. Second, the prices are more than double from other stores. But the lady was knowledgeable and nice. I won't be back.

I love this store but more so the fact that every question you have is answered with true knowledge of the fish. Plants and or aquariums. I have been a saltwater aquarium gal for 25 years but missed my cichlid keeping so I set up my first tank in 25 years. I obtained the necessary items to create an environment of perfect living for the cockatoo ciclids, they are thriving. The fist photo is of the cockatoo ciclids tank. The second is the start of a Hongsloi dwarf ciclids tank their will only be a male and female when it's ready, still aqua scaping it for them. The third tank is blue shrimp hoping to breed them. I can't say enough good things regarding this wonderful store.

I am so glad that we found this hidden gem and will be returning soon! Such a great variety to chose from. Found them on google and went in to check them out just to see what they had as we had decided to get an aquarium set up again after many years. Left with a full set up! It was so unique and fun to pick out what we wanted and see it all come to life right there. They helped tremendously with advice along the way and set up the decor and live plants perfectly in the tank for us. Even though we were in the shop past closing time, they never made us feel rushed or like an inconvenience. I really cannot say enough about my positive experience, they were helpful, fun, professional and you could tell that this is their passion!

Im very new to fish keeping, as soon as I walked in I was greeted by what I presume is the owner. I told him where I was at, what I did and didn’t know, and he took the time to show me EVERYTHING they have in store, as well as fed the animals so I could see them actively!!! I purchased some aquatic plants and had a blast in their assorted rock section! The animals are extremely healthy looking and appear to be very well cared for. I have found my new hidden gem!!!!! Say goodbye to big box pet stores— say HELLO to healthy fish & amazing staff!!!!
