About
SomethingFISHY in Oviedo, Florida is the kind of family-run aquarium store people happily drive 45 to 90 minutes round trip to reach. It covers freshwater, saltwater, and pond keeping under one roof, and regulars keep coming back for the breadth: by several accounts it holds one of the largest selections of nano fish, shrimp, and aquatic plants in the Orlando area. Look for neon tetras, pygmy corys, white cloud mountain minnows, clown killifish, and neocaridina shrimp for sale in Oviedo, FL, alongside livebearers like fancy guppies and Florida native mollies, plus jack dempseys, albino plecos, bumblebee catfish, and koi bettas.
On the saltwater side there are marine fish and vibrant corals available in Oviedo, FL for reef keepers. Pond hobbyists are well served too. One customer who built a 180-gallon in-ground pond and a 290-gallon above-ground pond sourced shubunkins, orandas, and all of his aquatic plants here, reporting every fish and plant thriving six weeks later.
That outcome is a common theme: shoppers repeatedly note that fish bought here stay alive and healthy, unlike past purchases from chain stores. The tanks are spotless and appropriately stocked, and staff are known to keep fish in-house long enough to prove they are healthy before selling. The live plant selection earns special praise — healthier, more varied, and including floating species you will not find at big-box pet stores, which makes this a real destination for planted tanks and aquascaping projects.
The shop also stocks dry goods: substrate, rocks, filters, pumps, fish food, and aquascaping materials. What ties it all together is the staff. Maya, Steven, and the rest of the crew come across as passionate hobbyists who keep tanks at home, answer rookie questions patiently, and steer you toward the right fish without ever pushing a sale.
New shipments arrive regularly, prices are fair with occasional 20% off sales, and the atmosphere — ambient lighting and a calm browse-as-long-as-you-like vibe — makes SomethingFISHY a genuine community hub for Oviedo and the wider Central Florida aquarium scene.

“Great service, awesome fishies and plants.”
— Orlando Latin Dance Community5.02 weeks ago“This is one of my favorite business to visit. Their staff is super knowledgable, courteous, and will for sure steer a rookie like me in the right directions when it comes to bringing your aquatic dream to life. I recently built two outdoor ponds, a 180 in ground and a 290 above ground. I have shubunkins, Orandas, Florida Native Mollys, Fancy Guppies, albino placos, bumblebee catfish, and a lot of aquatic plants... In fact all of my aquatic plants were purchased here. Im happy to report that after over a 6 weeks, all of my fish and plants have been extremely healthy and flourishing, I couldn't have done it without these guys! super grateful!”

— Max Howe5.0a month ago“Nice, local fish store. The tanks and fish always look good and they have some fish that you don't see often.”
— Jennifer Ross5.02 months ago“Really, really nice store and (I forgot to get a name. Lol) was really awesome for answering my questions patiently. They have so many different fish, plant, and options to get your tank set up. But even better, I was greeted at the front door of coursw, and then I got to browse the entire store peacefully and ask questions when I was ready. Lol. I can't stand a smothering salesperson🤣. Oh. And I thought they had tons already but was informed that they are getting a shipment soon and they are currently low'ish on stock. Ha. Highly suggested!”
— Bree O5.02 months ago“It's been a while since I last visited this store, but they are still as impressive as ever. With possibly the largest selection of nano fish, shrimps, and aquatic plants in Orlando, it's a great place to shop as an aquarium hobbyist. They also sell various salt water fish, corals, and some aquascaping supplies and materials as well. I've bought most of my aquatic plants from this place since they offer the most diverse selection in town compared to other places. I have also previously bought shrimps, some of which have since multiplied and thrived in my tanks at home. This time, I decided to buy some pygmy corys, white cloud mountain minnows, and clown killifish, all of which are thriving and adapting beautifully so far.”
— Lona C5.02 months ago“I love coming here. The staff are all knowledgeable about all of their fish. They all have tanks at home and truly love the hobby. I come in here regularly and recommend this place to everyone. Prices are very good and they get new shipments of fish regularly. All of the fish look healthy and happy. Go and see for yourself!”
