Badfish Florida in North Palm Beach has earned a devoted following among freshwater enthusiasts across Palm Beach County, and it's not hard to see why. Walk in and you'll immediately notice something unusual for a fish store: immaculate tanks, no smell, and display aquascapes so stunning that multiple reviewers describe them as jaw-dropping. This isn't a dusty shop with dead floaters — it's a meticulously maintained showroom that doubles as aquascaping inspiration.
The freshwater livestock selection leans toward the exotic and hard-to-find. Reviewers rave about the quality of their bettas — some calling them the most beautiful they've ever seen — alongside species like emerald eye rasboras and hillstream loaches. The plant selection is consistently praised as top-notch, making this a destination for planted tank builders.
They carry UNS tanks and Aquarium Co-op products, and as an official Aquarium Co-op partner store, they stock a curated range of aquascaping supplies, hardscape materials like driftwood, and dry goods that serious hobbyists actually want. Staff members Chantz, Sage, and Alexa come up by name again and again. One reviewer credited Chantz with helping them build a tank from start to finish.
A traveling professional aquarist stopped in and noted the store had everything a freshwater hobbyist could need. The owner has a reputation for being accommodating and genuinely invested in customer relationships — even smoothing over a public incident with YouTuber Paul Cuffaro, who later returned to film a glowing store tour. The store also has an award-winning aquascaper on staff, which shows in every display tank.
People routinely drive 30 to 40 miles to shop here, passing closer stores they've grown tired of. Badfish Florida has built something specific and deliberate: a clean, curated freshwater shop in South Florida where the livestock is healthy, the plants are thriving, and the staff genuinely cares about helping you succeed with your tank.

Went there one time. Got three fish two died within two days. Third fish on third day. All sales are final type of place. Knowledgeable staff, unique inventory, whack experience. More of a business less of a fish store. Name doesn’t lie.

This place is great. People are very knowledgeable and the place is CLEAN. Tanks are immaculate! Great variety of FRESHWATER FISH, plants and inverts. The photo is of my fish that purchased there as healthy little juveniles and now they are getting big.

This is hands down the best freshwater aquarium store in palm beach county. I have personally driven to every fish store from Jupiter to lake worth and this is the cleanest store with the most educated staff. If you are trying to decide if it’s worth the drive just get in the car and go. Chantz helped me from start to finish to get this tank setup. I will be adding more slowly and excited to see it flourish.
