About
Nahacky's Aquarium is the kind of family-owned aquarium store Melbourne, FL keeps coming back to — the sort of place locals first visited as kids and now walk through with their own children to pick out a first fish. Decades of hands-on experience show in the staff: review after review calls them knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested, with longtime favorites like Tim (a self-described "certified fish guru") and Aiden singled out by name for steering newcomers toward the right starter fish instead of pushing upsells. The shop packs an enormous amount into a compact, clean space.
Freshwater and saltwater display tanks line the walls, and the submersed live plants are repeatedly praised as the best around — they grow fast and thrive, and shoppers say they've stopped buying plants online entirely. Aquascapers come in for driftwood, rocks, and scaping materials to finish a layout. On the freshwater side you'll find cory catfish, cichlids, bettas, ember tetras, loaches, snails, blue shrimp, and axolotls, plus a standout puffer wall — pea puffers and the occasional Fahaka are available in Melbourne, FL here when bigger shops can't get them.
Saltwater hobbyists browse a rotating selection of coral and reef livestock. It's also a true fishkeeper's supply stop: live brine shrimp, black worms, fish food, and equipment are all on hand, which is why so many locals searching "fish store near me" end up here before any chain. The owners are hands-on, prices stay reasonable, and staff have a habit of following up as a new tank matures.
Like any high-traffic shop it isn't flawless — a few visitors have flagged stock health or a rushed moment on a busy day — but across nearly a thousand reviews the verdict holds: for live plants, corals, puffers, and honest advice, Nahacky's is the aquarium store Melbourne trusts. Healthy fish and plants for sale, plus the kind of in-person guidance you simply won't get from a big-box aisle.

— Jarusha Corbin5.0a month ago“This place is really hit and miss. Lately a lot of the stock I have seen have injuries or ick. I’ve purchased many fish and plants from here however, and rarely have any not making it. However, two things to note. I had two punch cards that I brought in for my discount. I had three extra punches on one of the cards and I asked to get a new card with those extras and he said they don’t transfer over? So that’s 3 $25+ that just disappear because I had forgotten my first card at home one day….. then today I asked about a fish. He said it was $25. I asked if he’s certain it is what he thinks because it looks like the ones I had just a darker shade but still blue eyes. I said maybe it has both genes. He said half the bunch that came in were that darker shade and he sold them for $25 each. I say I’ll take it because in worst case, I’ll have another lemon. He scoops it out and disappears. Then comes from the front telling me it’s $45. I’m confused because he said it was $25 and he just sold a lot for $25…. Yet suddenly it’s almost double.”
