Nahacky's Aquarium is one of those rare family-owned fish stores in Melbourne, Florida, that has earned its loyal following over decades. Customers recall visiting as kids, and now they're bringing their own children through the door for their first fish. That kind of generational trust doesn't happen by accident — it's built on genuine passion and deep knowledge of both freshwater and saltwater fishkeeping.
The store packs an impressive amount into a compact space. Freshwater and saltwater display tanks line the walls, and their submersed live plants are consistently praised as among the best in the area — reviewers note they grow fast and thrive compared to online purchases. The coral selection draws saltwater hobbyists, while freshwater keepers can find everything from cory catfish and cichlids to bettas, shrimp, snails, and even axolotls (though at $100, not $15, as one customer learned the hard way).
Aquascaping materials and dry goods round out the inventory. The staff, particularly Tim and Aiden, are frequently singled out by name. Tim has earned a reputation as a "certified fish guru" — patient with first-time tank owners, honest about what's actually needed, and never pushy with upsells.
Aiden, meanwhile, has the charisma to turn casual browsers into $150 spenders without them minding one bit. The family ownership shines through in the way they follow up with customers over months, helping new reef keepers gain confidence as their tanks mature. Nahacky's also handles delivery and full tank setup for larger systems, and their willingness to educate and consult throughout the process sets them apart from big-box alternatives.
Multiple reviewers describe returning specifically because of the time staff spent answering questions. The store isn't flawless — a few visitors have noted occasional fish health issues in display tanks, and not every interaction hits the mark. But the overwhelming sentiment across nearly a thousand reviews is clear: Nahacky's is the aquarium store Melbourne keeps coming back to, and for good reason.

Love this place have bought tons of fish plants snails shrimps for various tanks throughout the years recently made the owner grumpy because we thought the axolotols were 15 not 100 lol (he had already put him back by the time decided to tell my fiancée to go ahead and buy him). porky is a great addition and I will be sure to shop here and continue to send my friends and family here for years to come

I love how the have it set up for a small store. They have beautiful fresh and salt water tanks set up and their submersed plants are 2nd to none around here

What a great place. After canvassing a number of places in the area we went back to Nahacky's because of the attention and service we received. We were looking for a large tank setup and wanted a place that would take the time to answer a lot of questions, were knowledgeable, and had equipment we liked. Nahacky won on all counts being a family business that really cared. The delivery and setup went smoothly and they took a genuine interest as the tank matured. It's been about 5 months now, we're still learning, they're still teaching us, and we have a thriving fish and coral environment. Additionally they've given us enough help to allow us to do much more on our own, confidently, than I thought we would be at right now. Always have enough time for us, and I've seen it with every customer when we're in the shop. Much better than the more industrial aquarium shops we've experienced.

Two stars for the stocking /products inside the store , every fish keepers dream everything you need right infront of you, the issue? , the staff are incoherent, rude , and truly never give me what I need or ask for they act like they themselves have no experience talking to people or fishkeeping … I love this store but the staff need to get it together
