About
Fishy Business Aquarium is a freshwater-focused fish store in Longwood, Florida, where owner Rich has spent more than 25 years building one of the most respected aquarium stores in the greater Orlando area. Central Florida fishkeepers make the drive for the depth of livestock and the kind of hands-on guidance big-box stores simply can't match. The freshwater selection is the calling card.
You'll find cichlids and discus for sale alongside a rotating mix of tetras — neon tetras, rummy nose tetras, and glowlight tetras — plus a display tank full of colorful rainbowfish that has inspired more than one customer to start keeping them. Oddball and rare species turn up regularly, betta fish are available for smaller setups, and koi round out the freshwater lineup. For planted-tank hobbyists, the shop carries a steady rotation of live aquarium plants and driftwood, so anyone searching for aquarium plants near me in Longwood can find healthy stock and hardscape in a single trip.
Beyond livestock, Fishy Business stocks fish food, aquarium equipment, and dry goods at prices reviewers say beat the chains, and offers RO water through a container-exchange system. The real differentiator is the staff. Rich, John, and Bob are mentioned by name again and again for free water testing, detailed consultations, and complete tank-setup help — from initial cycling to diagnosing sick fish.
One customer credits the team with saving an entire tetra population after a crisis; another was walked through a responsible planted-tank build from scratch, with water parameters checked before any fish were sold. That test-before-you-buy philosophy reflects a store culture that puts fish health ahead of quick sales. For aquarists looking for a fish store in Longwood, FL — or the best aquarium store near Orlando — Fishy Business delivers freshwater breadth, healthy fish, and expertise that keeps people coming back for decades.

“Very good fish and plant selection!”
— Brendan M4.0a week ago“I love fishy business, super friendly and knowledgeable staff, a wide selection of fish and shrimp, and great deals on tanks, equipment, food, etc.”
— Christian Wood5.0a week ago“The best fish store very clean tanks”
— Beatriz Rodriguez5.0a month ago“This fish store is one of my top 3 picks in Orlando. And of my top 3, this is the one I go to first if I want to buy fish, even though it’s further away from me. They have a pretty large and diverse selection of fish, and their prices are pretty reasonable. I’ve purchased an assortment of nano fish, shrimp, and snails over the past 2-3 years, and I can happily say that most, if not all, are still alive and happily living in my aquariums at home. They stock up on different fish periodically, so if there’s a certain type of fish you’re looking for, you’ll want to check their Facebook page or call the shop to see if they have them in stock.”
— Lona C5.02 months ago“Great store with a wide variety of fresh water fish. The owner and staff are wonderful and kind. My first time in I had a great time looking at the fish on my day off. Brought home 3 orange vonrio tetras and a melini cory (one I have never seen at any other store before). The prices are comparable to other small businesses. If you like fish you must come here!”
— morgan camp5.02 months ago“I’ve gotten a lot of cool fish here, figure 8 puffers, a really nice discus, high quality mollys (and they take back the babies haha), etc. I would recommend this over trying to get anything at the chain pet stores. They always have unique fish in here.”
— Ashley Zych5.03 months ago“I love this store, they are so helpful nice so many exotic fish. Tanks are clean great set up. I just keep coming back to see what the have.”

Thanks for introducing us to Ms. Mother Murder Bean (not shown to keep her mysterious aura) and making a rainy day more fun 🐡🐡🐡”
