Fishy Business Aquarium has been a fixture of the Longwood, Florida aquarium scene for decades, with owner Rich at the helm for over 25 years. This freshwater-focused shop has built a loyal following among Central Florida fishkeepers who appreciate its deep stock of tropical species, live plants, and driftwood — plus the kind of hands-on guidance that big box stores simply can't offer. The store's freshwater selection is its calling card.
Reviewers rave about healthy cichlids, discus, rummy nose tetras, neon tetras, glowlight tetras, and a stunning display tank full of colorful rainbowfish that has inspired more than one customer to start keeping them. Oddball and rare species make appearances too — visitors on aquarium store tours through the Orlando area have called it the best shop they found. Live plants rotate regularly, and regulars recommend following their Facebook page to catch new shipment announcements.
What sets Fishy Business apart is the staff's willingness to invest time in their customers' success. Bob, John, and Rich are frequently mentioned by name, walking hobbyists through everything from initial tank cycling to diagnosing sick fish. One customer credits the owner with saving their entire tetra population after a crisis, bringing in water samples and photos and walking out with a step-by-step recovery plan.
Another describes being guided through a responsible freshwater planted tank build from scratch, including repeated water testing before any fish were sold. That philosophy — test before you buy — reflects a store culture that prioritizes fish health over quick sales. The shop sells RO water through a container exchange system, stocks food and supplies at prices reviewers say beat the chains, and runs periodic specials like buy-three-get-one-half-off deals.
While they no longer carry saltwater fish, their freshwater breadth more than compensates. For aquarists in Longwood and the greater Orlando area willing to make the drive, Fishy Business delivers expertise and livestock quality that keeps people coming back for decades.

I started my aquariums in February this year. Last week my fish started getting sick, rapidly dying, and I had no idea what to do. I went to the store with some water samples and pictures of my fish and the owner was incredibly helpful and kind to me. I was worried I would be negatively judged for the situation I was in but he was very compassionate and gave me a step-by-step guide to get my fish back to health. Prior to meeting with him I lost all 12 of my rummy noses and my neon & glowlight tetras had a fin in the grave. Since following his plan, my fish are looking and acting livelier each day and I haven't lost any more fish. I don't know what I would have done without his help. I'm incredibly grateful!!

I would never do business with Fishy Business. Their name is correct. I exchanged my fish for store credit fo six months and I always get the run around not having the fish I looking for and my money is stuck at their store and they are not willing to give you back after buying fish from them. They hold your money hostage. I would not recommend doing business with them!

I enjoy stopping by once a week to browse and stock up on food or supplies when I need. Service has always been nice and helpful. They are very knowledgeable about their fish. Great plant selection too, love seeing what comes in. Love their display tank with all the colorful rainbowfish! This place inspired me to get a few of them!
