About
Aquatic City Aquariums has earned its reputation as a go-to destination on Jacksonville's Westside, and it's easy to see why. Walk in and the sheer scale of the operation hits you immediately — rows of meticulously maintained tanks stocked with both freshwater and saltwater fish, vibrant corals, and lush aquatic plants. Reviewers consistently note that the livestock looks healthy and the facilities are remarkably clean, a testament to the care the team puts into daily maintenance.
The saltwater side is a particular standout, with a large selection of corals and reef fish that draws hobbyists from across the Jacksonville area. One reviewer called it the best place for saltwater tanks, period. The freshwater section, while slightly more modest, still carries interesting finds — German rams, Gold Nugget plecos, bettas, and live feeder shrimp are among the species customers mention picking up.
Live plants are a consistent draw, with dedicated plant buyers making repeat trips. What really sets Aquatic City apart is the staff. Jesse, Mike, Jay, and Sean are names that surface repeatedly in reviews, each praised for their patience and depth of knowledge.
Jesse in particular gets singled out for his reef tank expertise, walking customers through the entire process of setting up and maintaining a reef system. Sean has helped customers troubleshoot algae bloom issues with practical, actionable advice. The team also offers tank maintenance and cleaning services, custom tank setups, and sells RO water at a competitive 40 cents per gallon.
Prices are frequently described as fair, and the store runs a rewards program that customers appreciate. They stock a full range of dry goods — from water treatments and medications to hoses and equipment. The store has even taken in unwanted fish from customers dealing with aggression issues in their tanks, a small gesture that speaks to the community-oriented approach.
For Jacksonville aquarists looking for quality livestock, honest guidance, and comprehensive supplies under one roof, Aquatic City delivers consistently.

— erika nace5.04 months ago“I've come here several times looking for unique fish. I had bought some rams a few times. The staff is knowledgeable & friendly. However there do not have any fish guarantee & when you are spending $25 or so a piece for fish you need to offer something to your customers if you lose them. They ate not very accommodating if you want to buy a fish from a display tank. Why have fish in there you refuse to sell? Or that you don't get more of? It just seems like a tease”
