I have had 3 salt water tanks over the past 10 years and Bob has done the plumbing and spent time making sure I was successful every single time. His shop has the nicest coral and dry rock that I have seen and he is always getting cool fish in to check out weekly. Also has the most knowledgeable of anyone I have ever spoken with regarding this hobby.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I had to take a moment to talk about Amanda at the fish store—what an absolute gem of a human being. From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with the kindest smile and made me feel completely welcome, even though I had zero clue what I was doing. Her energy is just different—the kind that instantly brightens your day. She’s not only super kind, but she’s also hilarious. Her sense of humor is effortless and genuine, and it makes the whole experience 10 times better. And let’s just be real—Amanda is beautiful inside and out, and she treats everyone with respect, patience, and positivity. If you’re having a rough day, go talk to Amanda. She’ll turn it around before you even realize it. The fish store is lucky to have her, and so is anyone who gets to cross paths with her. 🐠💙

Bob is the most knowledgeable aquarist I know. Won’t steer you wrong. On my first tank he always advised me when trying to buy unnecessary things and always appreciated his honest approach to his customers. Service your tank with confidence also. We cannot say enough wonderful things about Bob and his team at Exotic Fish and Coral! Just over a year ago, we were gifted a 72-gallon saltwater fish tank, but unfortunately, the company that delivered it did not set it up properly, including the Apex system. Thankfully, Bob and his team, who our families have trusted for 15-20 years, came to the rescue. They quickly cleaned the tank, created a stunning aquascape, and took the time to educate us on proper care and maintenance. Since then, my fiancé and I have made it a tradition to stop by at least once a week to check out their ever-changing selection of beautifully cared-for fish. Over the past year, we have purchased 5-6 saltwater fish from Bob, all of which are thriving and healthy. His team is incredibly knowledgeable, and their pricing is more than fair—whether it’s for in-store water testing, on-site services, fish, coral, food, or supplies. We truly believe Exotic Fish and Coral is the best in Connecticut, if not all of New England! There is not a single negative thing to say about this shop, and we highly encourage anyone looking to start a tank, upgrade their current one, or get expert advice to pay them a visit. You won’t regret it!

They are always super helpful and most importantly all the fish I have bought for my reef tank are alive and well. I have not had a bad experience at this shop, have had bad experiences with other local shops before but not this one. The prices are extremely fair compared to many other shops and even online, great selection of saltwater fish and coral, both for beginner and advanced tanks
