Tucked into a modest storefront in Clovis, California, Seven Seas Aquarium is the kind of small, owner-operated fish store that earns fierce loyalty from the people who find it. Mark — the owner, sole staff member, and resident encyclopedia — has been in the aquatics trade for decades, and longtime customers speak of knowing him and his father for over twenty years. This is a one-man operation, and that shapes everything about the experience: the personalized attention, the occasional frustration when he's on the phone, and the uncompromising quality of the livestock.
The saltwater side is where Seven Seas truly shines. Mark's display reef tanks are gorgeous, filled with massive colonies of acropora and other corals that speak louder than any sales pitch. Reviewers consistently praise the health and quality of his coral frags, noting reasonable prices and specimens you won't find at big-box competitors.
His knowledge of reef chemistry and tank troubleshooting has saved customers thousands of dollars' worth of livestock — one reviewer credits Mark with single-handedly diagnosing a tank problem that was threatening an entire coral collection. Freshwater selection is solid for a shop this size, with healthy stock including plecos, lionhead goldfish, bettas, and live plants. Mark doesn't carry aquariums — he'll point you toward Petco's dollar-per-gallon sales or suggest ordering a Red Sea system — but he stocks a wide range of aquatic supplies and accessories, and will custom order anything he doesn't have on the shelves.
The biggest caveat: hours can be unpredictable. Multiple reviewers report arriving to find the store closed, so calling ahead is essential. And because Mark runs everything solo, there are moments when he's juggling phone calls and can't give immediate attention.
But for those willing to be patient, the payoff is genuine expertise and livestock that's been cared for by someone who clearly loves what he does. If you're building a reef tank in the Central Valley, Seven Seas deserves a visit.

Great service and beautiful, marine fish and live coral. Also healthy looking freshwater fish. But, limited selection of both.

The selection for saltwater fish isn’t that big, but there is a pretty nice selection of corals and freshwater fish for the size store. Definitely much better than that other pet store down the road and he doesn’t discriminate too

Let’s begin with this. This is a small business, not your local PetCo, Pet Smart, Pet Supplies. You will not find fish tanks, you will however, find a great selection of fish. Looking over other peoples reviews, you can easily see that this was one of the main complaints people had. Don’t base your opinion on those people, go in and check it out yourself. It’s a small business and the owner is great, sometimes he’s busy and can’t talk but he’s always been very helpful. Be patient, take a look around, ask questions if you’re actually interested in the trade. This man is incredibly knowledgeable and I always look forward to asking questions. Now, when it comes to the variety and choices, you definitely will find some options you won’t find elsewhere & a lot healthier fish as well. If you’re interested in saltwater fish, I’d definitely say this is a great place to checkout, freshwater fish can be found anywhere, health however will depend on who takes care of them and how they were received. & the owner of Seven Seas Aquarium definitely cares for his fish.
