Reef Tropical Fish in Anaheim has been a fixture of the Orange County aquarium scene for decades — some customers have been walking through its doors for close to 20 years. The store is compact, but every square foot is put to work. Tanks are clean and densely stocked with a rotating selection of freshwater and saltwater species that keeps regulars coming back weekly to see what's new.
The freshwater side is where much of the action happens. Bettas are a standout, with a variety that draws repeat buyers, and the nano fish selection earns particular praise from planted tank enthusiasts and small-tank keepers. Cichlids — including higher-end specimens — are well-represented, and seasonal arrivals like Amazon puffers keep the inventory unpredictable in the best way.
Angelfish are a popular draw, with varieties like red devil angels commanding premium prices. The store also carries a solid range of live plants and the supplies to keep them thriving. On the saltwater side, Reef Tropical Fish lives up to its name with a coral selection that multiple reviewers call one of the best in the area.
The variety may not be enormous, but the quality and pricing make it a worthwhile stop for reef keepers building out their tanks. The staff is the store's engine. Jay and the rest of the team are consistently described as patient and genuinely knowledgeable, each bringing their own expertise to the counter.
They'll walk newcomers through their first setup and offer seasoned hobbyists informed product recommendations without any pressure to upsell. New arrivals move fast here — popular fish sell out quickly — so timing your visit matters. Pricing sits at a reasonable middle ground for a local fish store, with fair coral prices and competitive freshwater stock.
The shop carries a full complement of fishkeeping supplies, from decor to medications and food. For Anaheim-area aquarists looking for healthy, diverse stock and staff who genuinely care about the hobby, Reef Tropical Fish delivers consistently.

I have become a regular at this store. I love the selection, the constant new arrivals of various species, the fish are always healthy, but most of all I love the friendly and knowledgable staff! These guys are amazing and this will continue to be my shop for all my aquarium needs. They are the best around! Most of my aquarium comes from them!

Very knowledgeable. All the staff have their own unique knowledge and make the process of purchasing easier! They have a wide selection of fresh and saltwater, but hurry quick! They sell out fast because of their great stock! They also have a great amount of supplies. Majority of the time when we need something, this is our go to place!
