About
Tony's Aquarium sits a little off the beaten path in Albertville, Alabama, and regulars say that's part of the fun — once you find it, you walk into an independently run aquarium store packed wall to wall with freshwater and saltwater life. The shop is split into distinct sections, and reviewers keep coming back to the sheer variety. One first-time visitor this June wrote that the saltwater tanks held species they'd never even heard of, while their kids spent a solid twenty minutes at the touch pool — a genuinely family-friendly stop, not just a livestock counter.
The marine side is where the store earns its reputation. 99 per pound — the genuine article, not dried-out base rock. Clownfish, a famously large grouper that visitors love to point out, and a rotating cast of saltwater fish are available in Albertville, AL for hobbyists who'd rather hand-pick in person than gamble on a big-box chain.
If you're searching for saltwater fish or coral for sale near me in northern Alabama, this is the rare local shop that actually carries it. Freshwater runs just as deep. Oscars, mystery snails, axolotls, aquatic plants, and a wide spread of tropical fish fill dozens of clean, well-balanced tanks — one customer credited that careful water quality with giving their new oscar a head start at home.
Aquarium supplies, decorations, and accessories round out the floor. Tony himself comes up again and again as knowledgeable and genuinely helpful, happy to walk you through a setup without hovering or pushing a sale. Hours can run a little unpredictable — the store is closed Tuesdays — so it's smart to call ahead before a long drive.
For anyone in Marshall County hunting diverse livestock and fair prices in person, Tony's Aquarium rewards the trip.

— Tim Cheever5.04 months ago“First time coming here since I moved to Alabama and I really like the prices of the fish, the only thing is, I didn’t get a receipt, the fish I bought infected my tank with ich and half of the fish I bought died. I called to find out if I would be able to get a refund and now I’m being told there is only a 24 hour guarantee on fresh water fish.. that’s $80 gone. People should be made aware of the guarantee before the transaction. Thanks.”
— Kaylee McDaniel1.02 weeks ago“Tony was very helpful really enjoyed talking to him I would suggest that everyone should go to his store and check out all of things he offers ty we really like our fish see you soon”
— Spencer Moore5.03 weeks ago“Stopped in on a whim. I assume it was Tony but employee was friendly and helpful without being pushy. Picked up a frag despite fact I wouldn't be back to Pennsylvania for 36 hours. It's healthy and happy extending polyps the day after getting in tank. Price was better than online vendors too. I pass through here often and will definitely buy again ... I'll just time it better so frag only spends 12 hours in the bag instead of 36. Had a large selection of live rock at 8.99/9.99 per lb. Like real wet live rock, not dry dead live rock.”
