About
Tucked into the El Dorado Shopping Center in Webster, TX, AquaZoo is a small, densely stocked aquarium shop that has built a loyal following across the Clear Lake area — some regulars happily drive in from Galveston, or more than an hour away, just to browse the tanks. Owned and run by Shannon and Prosper, it's the kind of mom-and-pop local fish store where the staff learn your name and the care shows in every healthy fish on the wall. The store leans hard into freshwater, and that's exactly what keeps people coming back.
Reviewers rave about a selection of freshwater fish you simply won't find at the big-box chains, from eye-catching bettas (never kept in jars here) to rarer species worth the trip. You'll spot guppies and other livebearers, freshwater shrimp, live plants, and driftwood in just about every shape an aquascaper could want. Pond keepers come in for hardy fish to stock outdoor setups, including small fish to help control mosquito larvae.
If you're hunting for healthy freshwater fish for sale in Webster, TX, this is the name locals trade among themselves. On the dry-goods side, AquaZoo carries a deep Fluval inventory alongside Oase gear, fish food, decor, and the tools to keep a tank running. The real draw, though, is the guidance.
Shannon, Prosper, and staff like Patrick encourage you to bring a water sample in for testing before adding livestock, walk newcomers through setting up a first tank, and talk through compatible tank mates so nothing goes home to a bad match. More than one long-time customer mentions learning something new every single visit. It's a compact space that gets genuinely busy on weekends, so weekday trips tend to be the most relaxed and hands-on.
For aquarium hobbyists searching for a knowledgeable fish store near me in the Webster and Clear Lake area, AquaZoo rewards the visit — one water test and carefully chosen fish at a time.

Customer reviews
“I purchased a male/female pair of guppies from this store for $24 (super pricey for a guppy) and a week later the female died. I called and asked if it was possible to bring in a water sample (my parameters are nearly perfect) and have the female replaced but evidently the exorbitant price of the fish does not come with any sort of guarantee for its health. The store has a unique inventory but that is about the only positive mark I can think of. Fish Gallery downtown has superior customer service, equal selection, better prices and more impressive displays. They've even offered to give guppies away for free because of how frequently they reproduce.”

They have everything you need and more with a wide range of fish and the fish are healthy! Go here to support your local aquarium supply shop, but also go here because they are the best!”
