Tucked into the Hill Country town of Marble Falls, Comanche Creek Aquatics & More is the kind of local fish store that punches well above its weight. Owner Eric has built a loyal following that stretches from Killeen to Fort Worth, with customers happily driving an hour or more to tap into his deep expertise in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. The store may be compact, but it's packed — healthy livestock fills well-maintained tanks, from vibrant bettas and clownfish to starfish, snails, and corals.
One reviewer successfully launched a guppy breeding project using Endler males and fancy guppy females sourced here, crediting the store's superior fish health compared to competitors. Eric's willingness to spend time with customers stands out in nearly every review. He walks newcomers through their first saltwater setup, explains the pros and cons of different species, and offers honest recommendations rather than pushing expensive products.
He also takes special orders — if he doesn't have a particular fish or plant in stock, he'll source it for you. Longtime hobbyists with 45-plus years of experience praise his knowledge just as enthusiastically as first-time tank owners. The live plant selection draws regular freshwater enthusiasts, though a few reviewers note they'd love to see more hardscape options like larger driftwood and decorative rock.
The store also carries fish food, medications and antibiotics, filters, substrate, and general supplies. Beyond aquatics, Comanche Creek offers bird care — trimming nails and wings for conures and custom-mixing bird food — plus dog grooming, making it a genuine multi-pet destination. The centerpiece display aquarium is worth a look on its own.
The atmosphere is relaxed and educational; multiple reviewers describe losing track of time just chatting and learning. For anyone in the greater Austin area or Texas Hill Country looking for quality livestock and real expertise, the drive to Marble Falls pays off every time.

The pet techs trim the nails and wings of my green cheek conure and are gentle and patient with her. She never seems anxious, and that is a very important factor in trusting the tech. Wouldn’t know what to do without them.

I'm visiting town from out of state with my girlfriend. After she convinced me to start a tank of my own, we decided to check out Eric's store for a filter, substrate, etc. Eric was super helpful in getting started. He is extremely knowledgeable in aquariums and gave us tips we could both use about plants, tankmates, and just random questions that might pop up. All of his fish were extremely happy in their tanks, which goes to show his care for this hobby. I absolutely suggest anyone check out his store if you are interested in getting started or expanding on this hobby.

Hoping for a bit more variety but the bettas are so beautiful.when I go back I will look better at variety. I do remember clownfish and starfish. Those were cute. Prices Abit on high side but maybe there's a great guarantee behind it.
