About
Glass Aquatics in Hurst, Texas has built a loyal following over more than eight years, evolving from a smaller space in the same shopping area into a dedicated destination for both freshwater and saltwater enthusiasts across the DFW Metroplex. Walk in and you'll notice the crystal-clear tanks — reviewers mention this repeatedly, and it speaks to the care the team puts into maintaining healthy livestock. The saltwater side is where Glass Aquatics truly shines.
Their coral selection draws consistent praise for both quality and affordability, a combination that's hard to find. The store also crafts its own house-blend coral food, a detail that signals real hands-on reef knowledge rather than just reselling what's on the shelf. For freshwater keepers, they stock cichlids, tropicals, and live plants, covering a solid range of setups.
Staff member Vanessa gets called out by name for her expertise and warmth, and the team clearly goes beyond retail. A local health and rehab facility trusted Glass Aquatics to install and maintain a 140-gallon tank, handling everything from interior design to fish cycling and ongoing service visits. The administrator there described the experience as incredible, noting how the staff even engaged with elderly residents during maintenance calls.
That kind of service work — tank setup, consultation, and regular maintenance — shows a business that understands long-term aquarium care, not just point-of-sale transactions. Then there's Tony the fish, a store mascot who delights visiting kids and has become something of a local celebrity. Multiple families mention bringing young children specifically to see him, and the staff makes it an experience — letting little ones feed Tony and explore the store at their own pace.
Glass Aquatics isn't trying to be the biggest fish store in the Metroplex. It's a neighborhood shop with real expertise, house-made products, and a team that troubleshoots tank problems on the spot. For Hurst-area hobbyists, it's the kind of place that earns the title of home store.

— Steve Stone5.03 months ago“I've been to this place a handful of times and every time I just leave thinking to myself why did I go back there. I feel I am talked down to or talked to as I don't know what I'm talking about when I try to make small talk. The most recent time I went I noticed the corals were dull colored, it may have been the lights or the phytoplankton they are growing that they are so proud of and couldn't stop talking about. Please reply to prove my point. Point proven. What a professional response. Your corals were dull colored. Even your latest photo you uploaded yourself 5 days ago, the corals colors are dull. That was the first thing I noticed when i walked in recently. Do you really think I left a review under my actual email so you could search my name in your system to see what ive bought and have my info? I've regretfully been to your store at least 4 times that I can remember in the past 8 +/- years or so. I used to live in Euless and its crazy, id rather drive to DNA that to go down the road to your store. You were at the other part of the shopping area when I first started going. You used to have the little plant cups for freshwater on the counter. And also you used to have, i think it was your own house blend of plant fertilizer fir fw tanks that probably flopped like your phyto will. You used to grow red dragon algae in the back. The male owner would bring people in the back to to see it and bag it up. I talked to you both several years ago before about adding real dirt to a planted tank and you laughed at the idea. A lot of people do it. You probably had to downsize store sizes because you're not making the money to support the business anymore. #garbagecorals #garbageowners”
