About
Tropical Fish Haven has anchored the Corpus Christi aquarium scene for years, and the loyalty shows. Regulars mention populating multiple tanks here and "coming here for years," while a curious traveler from Kansas City once stopped in just to admire the clams and cichlids. As one of the more complete independent aquarium stores in South Texas, it stocks freshwater and saltwater fish in genuine variety alongside live coral, sea anemones, and pond fish, so you can browse a marine display and pick up a few pond fish under one roof.
The freshwater side runs deep. African cichlids draw drivers from hours away, and recent visitors have come in for electric blue cichlids, flowerhorns, angelfish, and harlequin rasbora, the kind of livestock that is hard to find for sale in Corpus Christi, TX outside a dedicated shop like this. On the saltwater side, live coral, anemones, and clams give reef keepers something to actually study up close.
The staff are the repeat draw. Julie is named again and again for patiently walking newcomers through a first 40-gallon breeder tank; Kaleb has helped customers choose sand and rock for new setups; and Sean has come out to homes to assemble pumps and marine tanks on-site. Newer reviews keep echoing it, with shoppers calling the team "so kind and very helpful," praising "great service," and describing the staff as polite and non-pushy.
The shop also sells tanks and stands in a range of sizes, plus gravel, fish food, and everyday aquarium supplies, often at prices below the big-box chains. A couple of honest notes: the store keeps a strict no-return policy, so it is wise to quarantine new arrivals before adding them to an established tank. Tanks generally earn high marks for being clean and well kept, with one regular calling the aquariums beautiful.
For Corpus Christi, TX fish keepers who want real selection and staff who clearly love the hobby, this aquarium store remains a destination worth the drive.

“bought a fish from this store died on the way home less than 20 mins after buying it. refused to give me any sort of refund or replacement, never been to a fish store that didn’t have some sort of warranty or assurance if a fish dies within a certain period of time. very disappointing.”
— Bailey Guice1.0a day ago“Got an electric blue chiclid dolphin and it died in 2 days. It was the only fish that died. I have 10 chiclids I’ve had there and they are fine. I’ve always gotten my fish at petco and tried tropical fish haven for first time and unfortunately when I called the do not have a return policy for sick fish. Probaly will just stick with petco form now on since they have a return policy of at least 15 days for fish that die. Also obviously they are healthier at petco too”

— Zamora Chapman5.04 weeks ago“My flowerhorn died after 2 days water was fine and conditioned. Using the same water for my angelfish.”

— kankri vantas5.02 months ago“There's so much to like about this store. Polite, knowledgeable, non pushy staff. Nice variety of fish and extras. I highly recommend this place. The only downside for me was that there's no return/refund policy. I have a big box store fairly close, but I'd rather drive the extra 20 miles to shop at Fish Haven! 3/14/2026 Update: Went to get some Harlequin Rasbora (3) Great service. Lots of stuff for practically any need.”
