About
Fishy Business is a family-owned fish store in Lexington, TN, run by owner Dustin and a crew that regulars describe again and again as friendly and genuinely knowledgeable. Walk in with a question about tank size, fish compatibility, or how to start a saltwater setup, and the staff will take the time to talk it through — one longtime customer recalled being told exactly how many fish to add and which species would actually get along in the same tank. The draw for many local aquarists is the saltwater side.
" On the freshwater side you'll find bettas (a customer famously named theirs Arthur Findragon), live plants, and weekly feeder fish that one family grabs as treats for their Oscars. Shoppers regularly report good long-term survival with fish and plants bought here, often better than the big-box alternatives nearby. It's more than fish, too.
The shop doubles as a small-town menagerie with reptiles, birds, chinchillas, guinea pigs, and ferrets, plus a resident poodle that doesn't mind being petted — the kind of place kids can wander wide-eyed through every aisle. Service goes beyond the counter. One recent customer raved that the team came out, carefully moved their 125-gallon tank to a new house, kept every fish safe, and set the whole thing back up.
For tank-setup help, stocking advice, or aquarium supplies available in Lexington, TN, this aquarium store leans hard on hands-on expertise. Fair warning: the building is admittedly rough around the edges, it can run warm and carry the smell of a busy animal shop, and posted hours aren't always reliable — so it's worth a call ahead before you make the drive. But for Lexington-area fishkeepers who value patient, caring advice from people who clearly love the hobby, Fishy Business still comes through where it counts.

Customer reviews
“The condition of these animals and their enclosures are abhorrent. It looks like they were brought in and completely forgotten about. Algea, trash, feces,....MOLD?! Come on guys, do better. You all should be ashamed of how you treat these poor things.”
— Bri Burg1.03 weeks ago“Drove over 30 minutes to be at the store when it opened (Hours checked in multiple places stated 10 am) I waited for 45 minutes and nobody ever showed. Three other customers also came & left in that time. No signage or Facebook post about delayed opening. And the marquee in the front window stated hours were 10-6. Ended up having to drive to Jackson to get the products I needed.”
— Sara Smith1.0a month ago“Friendly knowledgeable staff, decent selection but very poor on opening on time if at all. Lost track of how many times I've gone " during business hours" and doors locked, know body there.”
— Mike Kayser2.0a month ago“All I can say is WOW. They came out and moved a 125 gallon tank from one house to another. He took great care in making sure all the fish were ok, handled the move, and set everything up. We've also purchased fish from the store & always had great service. I would highly recommend Fishy Business for all your fish needs!”

— Whitney Davidson2.02 months ago“My son and I stopped by this place Monday at 1:51 pm and were bewildered at why the place wasn't open seeing as the hours say it open on Monday. We sat in the car and tried to call because we were headed back to Nashville with a new aquatic pet that we needed supplies for. Finally a gentleman, I'm assuming was the owner (not quite sure) pulled up and apologized, stating that he just got here for the day. The hours posted say open at 10 am!! It was 2 pm. We walked in and were immediately heartbroken. Most of the tanks were dirty and didn't have much light to them. The place looked completely run down and was rather hot and quite smelly in there. I understand that it's not gonna smell incredible with animals of different varieties around, but this was neglect. I can understand it being family owned and it being a small store, but that's all the more reason to take care of your animals properly and on schedule!! Those poor babies were probably starving! I have never left a pet store more distraught than I did this one. If your passion is no longer making your animals PRIORITY, it's time to close up shop. Not to mention they had nothing we needed for our new pet. I try my hardest to never give bad reviews, but for animals, I will. Do better, for them, please.”
