About

Tucked away in Cleveland, Tennessee, Reef Chasers operates more like a coral farm than a traditional fish store — and that's precisely what makes it stand out. With blacked-out windows and a door marked "employees only," first-time visitors might hesitate at the entrance. But step inside and you'll find room after room packed with saltwater livestock: coral frags in every color imaginable, anemones, invertebrates, clownfish, and an impressive rotating stock of reef fish.

The operation is built around coral propagation. Reef Chasers farms their own corals on-site, and their selection — from Banana Torch corals to holy grail variants — reflects a serious commitment to reef culture. Staff will walk you through the back rooms in what feels like a guided tour, showing off new arrivals and grow-out systems.

They quarantine fish before sale, and their tanks are reportedly pest-free, which matters enormously in the saltwater hobby. A significant portion of their business is online, shipping coral frags and fish across the country. Reviews confirm that packaging is meticulous — shipments arrive warm, well-insulated, and often include a free frag as a bonus.

They even 3D-print tank accessories and package fish with pure oxygen. That said, the shipping experience isn't flawless: some customers have reported DOA corals and frustrating interactions with the return policy, which offers store credit rather than refunds and requires paying shipping again. In-store visits can also be hit-or-miss logistically.

Several reviewers have driven over an hour only to find the shop closed or the owner unavailable during posted hours — a real frustration for a destination store. When the owner is present, however, the experience is personal and deeply knowledgeable, with hands-on guidance about coral care and fish compatibility. For saltwater hobbyists in Tennessee and beyond, Reef Chasers delivers genuine coral farm quality and a selection that rivals stores in much larger cities.

Just call ahead before making the drive.

Customer reviews

  • “Our Banana Torch coral arrived in absolutely perfect condition! The packaging was still warm upon delivery, and the coral itself looked incredible—healthy, vibrant, and even better than expected. You can tell great care was taken in packing and shipping. Truly a wonderful experience!”

  • “My first order from Reef Chasers was delayed by UPS for one day, and the coral unfortunately did not survive the shipping from Tennessee to California. This obviously is not the fault of Reef Chasers, and they did reach out and offer to reimburse me for the lost coral on my next order, and also to throw in a free frag for the trouble. My second order arrived on time and in excellent health, although I did not receive the promised compensation with this second order. Overall, I am happy with my purchase from Reef Chasers. The prices were good, the customer service was responsive, and the corals were gorgeous. It is important to practice empathy and understanding with small businesses like these, as without them nobody would have any corals at all! I will likely place at least one more order of corals sometime in the future. Update: Reef Chasers eventually refunded me for the original DOA coral as promised, and as such I can highly recommend purchasing from this shop!”

  • “THIS IS THE BEST SALTWATER FISH STORE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!!! They are absolutely amazing in every way!!! 😍😍😍 They farm their own corals, the QT fish before you buy them, I did not see any pests in their tanks, they give out stickers, they ship, they 3d print tons of tank accessories, they package fish with pure Oxygen, they are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, they have a huge selection, and they even let you spin a wheel with purchase for a chance at discounts, mystery frags, and more! I cannot say enough great things about this fish store!!! This is one that is DEFINITELY WORTH THE DRIVE!!!”

  • “Best place to buy all of your saltwater needs! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. This is not your typical LFS this is a coral FARM with top of the line equipment and livestock, HIGHLY recommend!!”

  • “Worst fish store ever don't buy from here unless you want marine velvet in your tank. Got 2 fish from here and killed every fish in my tank. As you can see from the reply the owner is also a jerk. Never asked for anything from them just letting everyone know shop here at your own risk.”

  • “I bought a Og holy grail it arrived unhealthy and deteriorating. I emailed them to let them know of the situation. the next day I found out it had brown jelly total goner sad thing is I’m worried the rest of my coral in the tank will get infected with it. They didn’t offer anything just told me it’s alive and looks “colorful”. I wouldn't buy anything again or receive any live items from them again anyway the plug holding the coral had a small piece of aiptasia and many other pest. First bad experience I had with an online vendor that’s what I get for going the cheap route online!”

  • “I've purchased all my fish, inverts and most of my coral from Reef Chasers. The place has a bunch and I mean a bunch of fish and 🪸. Never lost a fish from there. I do live only 35 mins away but I do call before i go because they do ship fish and coral so I make sure they're not slammed with shipping out orders. They're staff has given me really good advice about the coral and fish I purchased.”

  • “Purchased 2 White Tail Yellow Eye Bristletooths from them. One for each aquarium. On Friday, 7 days after I received them, found the one dead. Tried to call them but they were closed. Emailed the next business day and then they told me it wasn't in their 7 day policy, to bad. Even tried to say I shouldn't put both in one tank. I never did, and that is why one died! Would never do business with them again! Was just about to place a very large order to start stocking a new 600 gal plus tank and cancelled it all. Poor service and garbage customer support! Find your fish elsewhere!”
