Tucked away in Wind Gap, Pennsylvania, The Waters Edge Aquarium packs a staggering amount of freshwater life into a space that's deceptively larger than its storefront suggests. Hundreds of tanks line the walls, filled with tropical fish sourced in part from local breeders — a detail that speaks to the store's deep roots in the regional aquarium community. The selection spans guppies and angelfish to rare and hard-to-find species, with reviewers regularly noting they struggle to leave without wanting everything they see.
Live aquatic plants are a major draw here, and the store has built a reputation as one of the premier freshwater destinations in Pennsylvania for both fish and planted tank supplies. Shrimp keepers trust them enough to source their colonies here, and the store also carries axolotls — a partnership with Luna's Axolotls means they periodically stock these popular amphibians. On the equipment side, you'll find aquariums, filters, décor, and a full range of accessories.
If something isn't on the shelf, the staff will try to track it down. The team — including a staffer named January and another named Mike — earns consistent praise for being genuinely helpful without being condescending. They test water, walk newcomers through tank setup, and offer straightforward advice rooted in real experience.
Multiple reviewers specifically appreciated being treated with respect rather than talked down to, a refreshing contrast to other shops in the area. Pricing runs slightly higher than big-box competitors, but most customers consider it fair given the quality of the livestock and the level of personal service. The fish are generally healthy and well-maintained across those hundreds of tanks, and the store's cleanliness is frequently mentioned.
For freshwater hobbyists across the Lehigh Valley and Poconos region, The Waters Edge has become the go-to destination — a proper local fish store with the inventory of a much larger operation and the personal touch of a family-run shop.

I love going to this place. Been going here for a couple of years now and they've only gotten better. From their friendly staff to their huge inventory of just about everything fish. ( aquariums, filters, decor ) You name it, they have it. And if they don't they will sure try ti get it. The array of fish to choose from can get overwhelming, you want them all. If you're in the market for an aquarium and starting new or adding to your existing aquarium this is definitely the place to check out.

2 weekends ago was our first time here. Came to get new guppies and a snail. Everyone was very friendly. The woman who helped us was so sweet with our girls and talked to us about the fish as well as axolotls. My littlest loves them. We ended up getting two sets of really cute earrings too. A pair of blue axolotls, and a pair that look like fish in a bag. Will definitely come back!

They been around for a long time, nobody is perfect but they do a good job explaining things and dont talk about customers or other stores negatively behind their back like Elite Menagerie Habitats does regularly.
