About
In Pittston, PA, The Pet Zone is a family-run aquarium store and pet shop that has earned a loyal following across northeastern Pennsylvania, with a reputation that outpaces its modest storefront. The space spreads over two levels: upstairs you'll find rows of freshwater and saltwater aquariums, while downstairs sits the "cave," a $5-admission reptile experience where visitors can hold snakes and meet tortoises and other creatures up close. The aquatics department is the real draw for fishkeepers.
John, a staff member regulars mention by name, walks newcomers through saltwater setups with genuine patience, talking through the specific needs of individual corals and fish. Recent visitors have praised the saltwater fish selection and supplies, and freshwater hobbyists can find tropical community stock like harlequin rasbora for sale in Pittston, PA. One customer who drove 40 minutes home was sent off with a bigger bag and extra water so the fish would travel safely, a small gesture that says a lot about how the staff treat their livestock.
You'll also find puffers, marine invertebrates like crabs and snails, coral frags, and the pre-mixed saltwater the store sells at a dollar a gallon to get a tank running. Beyond livestock, The Pet Zone carries a solid range of dry goods, fish food, and aquarium equipment, including Fluval filtration. Staff are happy to help plan a tank setup, test a water sample, or talk through pond and outdoor fishkeeping.
Purchases are backed by a 48-hour fish guarantee: bring the fish back with a water sample and they'll work to make it right. The store stays clean and well-kept, the animals are cared for, and the special events featuring exotic animals like kangaroos, capybaras, and otters pull families in from across the region. Prices run a bit above the big-box chains, but the attention to detail and local expertise are exactly why shoppers keep coming back.
For anyone hunting saltwater fish, corals, or freshwater stock available in Pittston, PA, this is a destination aquarium store worth the drive.

“I went there and got my leopard gecko on sale he was definitely an older male he was on sale.... It hasn't even been 6 months and he passed away with a tumor on his head that completely took over his brain and eye 😭 he was absolutely my baby and now I had to wake up to him dead and because the tumor was already to the point it was cancerous I couldn't help him so and before anyone says anything it literally showed up as a little red bump by his eye like he bumped it and not even 3 days later it was huge and now today he was gone.... This is absolutely ridiculous I get u guys get your leopard Geckos from a third party but now I had to cry while burying my baby because he wasent only an animal he was my baby 😭 this is so messed up I knew he was left behind for a reason but he deserved a home and to be loved I'm happy I took him but I didn't expect this outcome....”

This was the closest option, about an hour and a half from me. They put in a level of care that you can only dream of. I am so incredibly grateful! I will drive this distance for as long as this business exists to get my pet products! I hope that means forever! YOU ROCK!!!! THANK YOU!!!!”

— Matthew Travis (LOBO)5.0a month ago“Lots of fish and reptiles. Store is very clean and neat. Only downside is this place is not ADA friendly. And thats a negative thing when your child needs a wheelchair/stroller.”
— Brandi Muchler3.02 months ago“DO NOT BUY FISH HERE! I bought $450 worth of salt water fish, crabs and corals on Saturday. One fish died the next day. All other fish, snails, crabs and corals are all perfectly fine. I tested my water and all parameters were spot on! Myself and family members are avid in the salt water community. This tank has been established for 2 years. I called the store and was informed to come back with the dead fish and water sample. And if my tank parameters were okay, they would replace the fish and make the situation right. I drove 90 minutes back to this fish store. The guy told me the fish looked fine. He told me that many water parameters were off, when they are not. Myself and another person tested these levels. I posted the levels in an avid fish facebook group, so also said the levels were normal. And that he couldn't test one level due to water being too cold, also not true. He did not offer any other type of solution to the problem. Simply said to come back with another water sample. Needless to say, I WILL NOT be coming back! If you are an avid salt water fish person, DO NOT BUY HERE! This is not customer service!”

Saw some ferrets and gerbils too We also picked up some moss and green sand for my crab tank”
