About
Adam's Pet Shop is a family-run, locally owned shop in Tulsa, OK that built its name on reptiles and exotic animals, yet it earns a place in the aquarium world for its freshwater corner — goldfish and other hardy freshwater fish for sale in Tulsa, OK — alongside a deep bench of vivarium and bioactive supplies that crossover straight into the planted-tank and terrarium hobby. Tucked into Square One, the store is compact but densely stocked, running from live and frozen feeder rats to springtails, isopods, crickets, and worms, plus the live plants and substrate you need to build a bioactive enclosure from scratch. Owner Adam is the heart of the operation, and the reviews keep circling back to him.
" Whether he's walking a first-time keeper through a ball python purchase, fielding "every possible question we had and some we didn't think to ask," or pointing out the two tortoises that roam free and sun themselves by the front door, Adam treats the floor like a classroom. Shoppers also flag genuinely fair prices on feeders and a kind, customer-focused staff. This is not a glossy big-box experience, and a slice of reviewers have raised concerns about housekeeping and enclosure upkeep — opinions on the shop run polarized.
Still, the larger share of its 378 reviews land firmly positive, pointing to well-cared-for animals, a quirky bone art display, and the resident shop bird that greets regulars. For Tulsa hobbyists who want goldfish, feeder insects, isopods, and bioactive plants available in Tulsa, OK from a fish store with real personality and hands-on expertise, Adam's Pet Shop delivers a hometown experience the chains simply can't match.

— Adam Hawkins5.04 days ago“We used to love coming here, and learned so much from Adam but recently we’ve had several not so great experiences. There’s been a handful of times we’ve came in and a guy with long hair has shown zero customer service. We got there and didn’t get a single hello or how can I help you, then watched 4 more families come in and get the same treatment. We used to love this place because it was welcoming and Adam is super helpful.”
— Donovan Allen2.02 weeks ago“We purchased a ball python from Adam's Pet Shop and discovered she had a spot on her mouth so we kept an eye on it and 3 weeks later we noticed labored breathing. After taking her to an exotic veterinarian, she was diagnosed with mouth rot, and the vet determined the infection had likely been present before we purchased her based off pictures we have from purchase date which I’ve attached. We contacted the store to let them know, mainly so they could be aware and hopefully prevent similar issues in the future. Rather than offering much assistance or understanding, they became somewhat defensive and repeatedly told us we should have contacted them first, despite never informing us that they would have helped us in this situation or that they had an account with a reptile vet. We sought immediate veterinary care because we were concerned about our snake's health and didn't want to delay treatment. Because of the infection, we've had to pay for an exam, medication, and replace much of the enclosure setup to maintain a sterile environment during recovery, resulting in significant unexpected expenses shortly after bringing her home. The health issue itself was unfortunate, but the dismissive responses and unwillingness to help since we already took her to a vet ourselves were what ultimately led me to leave this review I understand illnesses can happen, but I was disappointed by the lack of support and accountability. I would encourage anyone considering purchasing a reptile here to ensure it is fully healthy and well taken care of before even exiting the store and to ask as many questions as possible.”

— Ayden 6073.0a month ago“I had a rose haired tarantula as a kid growing up and kept it for about 6 years. I’ve always had an affinity for spiders. So I came across this local shop thinking I could get one from there. I heard from TWO people this shop is kept in horrible condition but I wanted to give them a chance anyway. I called twice and never got through. So I messaged them on fb to ask if they had any sexed jumping spiders and wanted to know the size. The response I got was that they had one left that had not been sexed. I told them I didn’t want a female and to have a million babies for which their sarcastic/unprofessional response was, “I have more coming soon but if you get a male you won’t have babies lol” you’d think as a small business owner they’d be more accommodating and have even an ounce of customer service. So I ordered my jumping spider from a reputable company online. I won’t be going to Adam’s Pet Shop anytime soon.”
— Cory Girl1.0a month ago“Honestly needs a zero star option. Most of the animals didn’t have water. Ones that did were completely filthy. The tanks had mold growing. The guy was just sitting behind the register on his phone. Place needs to just be shut down if you aren’t going to care for them. I’m surprised people were boarding their pets here. They were on the display floor and looked so stressed and in a filthy enclosure.”
