Aquarium Customs in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma has carved out a reputation as the Tulsa area's go-to reef and saltwater shop, though they carry a solid freshwater selection too, including discus and live plants. Owned and operated by Travis and Roland, the store runs on deep personal knowledge — the kind where staff will talk you out of a Blue Ribbon Eel if they don't think you're ready for one, or walk you through recovering from an ammonia spike without making you feel foolish. The saltwater inventory is the main draw.
Reviewers consistently praise the coral selection, invertebrates, and reef-ready fish. Travis quarantines incoming shipments before they hit the sales floor, and the store will special order fish so customers don't have to deal with online shipping to their doorstep or airport pickups. They also sell premixed ocean water — bring your own jug.
For equipment, expect a surprisingly thorough hardware selection: PVC fittings, ball valves, plumbing supplies, and top-tier lighting at prices competitive with online retailers. They even installed an Aqua UV sterilizer on a customer's tank same-day during an ich emergency. Anna and Roland both receive frequent name-drops for their patience with newcomers to saltwater.
Roland in particular has a knack for guiding first-time tank builders through fish compatibility, stocking order, and troubleshooting — and he'll take your call after the sale. The store also does water testing on-site, which makes it a practical regular stop for maintenance. The experience isn't universally smooth.
Several reviews mention inconsistent customer service, occasional rudeness on the phone, and at least one report of disease introduced from store-purchased fish. Hours haven't always matched what's posted online. But the loyal customer base — some driving two hours each way — suggests the expertise and livestock quality outweigh the rough edges.
For reef hobbyists in the greater Tulsa area, Aquarium Customs remains the most serious specialty shop around.

I went in and the employee was so knowledgeable about every question I had. She gave me complete advice on what I needed, details to set up a tank, and information on every single fish I inquired about. Even when I mentioned I didn’t plan on buying anything that day, she was attentive and still answered every single question with a full and detailed answer, which is rare. I will definitely be coming back to buy my fish here and I love how the store has employees where it is apparent they care about what they do.

Staff is rude. If you want proof just call and ask simple quests about things you will need to get from THEM to setup a tank. I was not rude and did not even know what to say to the lack of answers and tone. I just said thank you and hung up... I know I am probably going to get a long rude comment on my review like the others BUT I am not going to let that silence me. I was unhappy with the customer support and will find somewhere else to shop that will help me know what I need to keep my potential pets alive.

First time visiting here after being at one other place and it was refreshing. I’m new to the saltwater aquatics and came in for some info/water fill. Anna helped me and answered a ton of questions I had, she’s very kind, patient, knowledgeable. Even though it’s a little bit of a drive I’ll be back.

Travis and Anna are the best. Travis has beautiful, healthy fish that are already quarantined and tank ready. His selection of Invertebrates and coral are plentiful and beautiful.

What an amazing place! If you have any inerest in what a saltwater community tank can be, you have to stop by this place! I was really impressed and my kids had a fantastic time looking at all the cool fish and setups Aquarium Customs had. We will most certainly be stopping back by when we are in the area!

Was in the area for the first time in a few years and had to make a few reef shop stops. Aquarium customs has been the best shop in the Tulsa area for years and still is. Great variety and prices and always willing to help!

You want to talk about I owe you money but what about all of the fish in coral that continue to keep dying while. Under your care. And then you want to band me for something my brother did that had nothing to do with me it’s so unreal The simple fact of the matter is every time I come in there you never have anything anyway, the shop is completely going down from when I first started coming there only how are you able to afford the help that you have is because you gave him a tank and he’s paying it off through doing work for you, it’s only how you’re able to afford him your stuff is overpriced, and always seems to feel
