About

Aquatics Galore is a family-owned fish and aquarium store in Fairborn, OH, widely regarded as one of the largest livestock destinations in the greater Dayton area. A recent remodel turned the space into more of an immersive walk-through than a quick errand, and the shelves back it up: a deep, rotating mix of freshwater and saltwater fish, including rare and hard-to-find species that rarely turn up at chain pet shops. Saltwater hobbyists make the trip for the coral selection.

Corals, anemones, and mushroom corals are for sale here, many of them grown in-house, alongside saltwater fish that reviewers consistently describe as healthy and fairly priced. On the freshwater side, there is livestock available in Fairborn, OH year-round: koi, green phantom and other plecos, freshwater shrimp, and a diverse range of betta fish, plus the live aquarium plants and plant fertilizers to finish a planted tank. Longtime customers mention going years without a loss on fish and shrimp bought here.

Beyond livestock, Aquatics Galore keeps a genuinely deep supply section: aquarium equipment, tanks, dry goods, water treatments, tank decor, and one of the better-stocked walls of fish medications in the area, which several reviewers call their go-to source when a tank needs treatment. The store also rotates a variety of turtles. Consultations and hands-on guidance are part of the appeal, with staff like Tim, Patty, and Jerry singled out for patient, knowledgeable help, whether you are setting up a first betta tank for a kid or dialing in a reef.

Beginner-friendly but serious, it remains a standout aquarium store and fish store in Fairborn, OH for aquarists across southwestern Ohio.

  • “Nice set up and have a huge variety of fish. We got 10 neon tetras to add into a new tank that has been water tested and cycled. I’ve owned fish and bred them for many years so I can confidently say I know what I’m doing. We live not even a 30 second drive from this store and when we got home we already had 2 dead in the bag. Which they ended up giving us 14 tetras but charged us for 10 since we only asked for 10 so I was thinking okay that’s really odd but not a big deal I guess. I acclimated them with a slow drop and tested the waters again which were perfect before I fully added them in. I had their light off for a few days to reduce stress and did everything I possibly could do right. By the time I went to bed half of them were dead. On about day 3 I noticed they were starting to get covered in white spots. All by 2 died the same night I noticed it. I treated the tank for ick and did a water change. The 2 seem to be doing okay but it haven’t even been 5 days since I got them. I won’t be surprised if they die as well. I thought it was suspicious that they had no warranty of their fish.”

  • “I have been here twice. Both times on a sunday. Doors are locked and sign is off. The hours online and on their front door state sat/sun 10-5. It is 2:37 pm right now. I have watched 4 cars pull up and then have to leave and go somewhere else. One car had a little girl that started crying because of not being able to see the fishies. It only takes a second to update the website and/or put a sign on the door. I will be going somewhere else from now on.”

  • “I went there today and I had problems finding parking and I asked the guy at the register if it was ok to park in-front of the dumpster. He said it was ok, but the interaction was weird, like he was annoyed by the question or by accent. Customer service needs some work. As far as the fish, the salt water fish looked good, but the small tanks are overcrowded and the selection and size of fish is not the best. They had only small fish and only a few species. That may be because the bigger fish don’t sell well or they don’t want to run the risk of the animals dying before selling them.”

  • “We ended up with some really sick fish after a horrible experience at another local fish store (we will never step foot in Gerbers again, read reviews before going I wish we had). We found this place and went in for help. So far two trips dealing with very complex sick fish issues and they have been so knowledgeable and kind. Our fish are finally starting to take a turn for the better and I 100% credit the amazing staff here for their advice that was better than google or YouTube could have ever taught me. They really took the time to explain and work out treatment plans and explain what they believed was going on. They truly know their stuff and their fish are well cared for!”

  • “Waited 30 min and was not offered help at all. Finally had to run someone down who was smoking a vape next to all the tanks. And both fish I got died. I have a fully cycled mature and seasoned tank and never have fish deaths. So needless to say I won’t return”
